I really wanted to see more about the mystery off the gates. Who teached the gates to guy, which old fighter Madara has fought? He did know the technique and even how it works and he remembered the steam too.

Gai learned it through his father [Who sacrificed himself to protect his son - It was also the only technique he learned for years]

Madara is one of the knowledgeable character in the series, its fair to assume he did research [He also had the idea about Edo Tensei sealings]

Doubt that Madara actually fought anyone in eight gate form [Since it could've killed him in his prior years]

P.S. There is a possibility Madara was watching everyone in Konoha through Zetsu clones .​

this is one of the reasons madara wont die yet...simply becuz he left us load of unsolved mysteries :

-how did he know about edotensei.?..

-how did he manipulate Rin and mist anbu when he hismelf was old weak attached to mazo..(zetsus weren'tcreated yet)

-how in the hell was he able to move outside and implant his rinnegans to nagato??? (zetsu weren't created at that time)..

-how did he learn about gai's evening elephant???!!

this is why i always say tobidara might exist...the other madara could be the one who did all these evil incidents .....and btw...Madara to gai sensei that he saw gai befor but could'nt rememeber him well...and gai same thing.....really madara must come back to answer all these kestions!!!

OT: Yeah I see where you're getting at but i think it's pretty safe to assume that his father taught him the 8 gates. Then, for madara's case, he knows alot about the shinobi world so I wouldn't be surprised if he knew about the 8 gates without him necessarily fighting someone with the 8 gates.
