Why weren't Uchiha Jinchuurikis?

I think Uchiha bodies could handle it. Random non-senju clans such as Gaara and Killer Bee were Jins without some super body.

I think one of the issues were obvious politics. The other, were that the Leaf had closest access to the Senju (and relative Uzumaki). These clan members could remove the possibility of a Jinchurriki's body being rejected, therefore it is the safest and most ethical way of choosing a Jin.

The people who became jinchuurikis were usually related to the kage...
Eg: Naruto (fourths son), Gaara (kazekage's son), Killer Bee (Ay's Brother), Mito (Hashirama's wife), etc.
The Uchiha weren't related to anyone who was a kage because none of the Uchiha ever became Hokage...
Anyway, it's best for the jinchuuriki to be related to some type of Kage in order to protect them and make the villagers somewhat accept them (which didnt turn out the way planned).

If Uchiha became jinchuuriki they'd be pretty OP ..just saying.

True, they could control a tailed beast with little risk by using sharingan, but an Uchiha could never have been a perfect jin anyway due to the hatred they seem to carry.

The Uchiha were the inheritors of the dojutsu, meaning they gained the strong eye abilities. The Senju and relatives of them (Uzumaki) were the inheritors of the chakra and body meaning; they had more chakra, longer lifespan, and just more durable bodies. The only time an Uchiha is able to hold a tailed beast of any kind is if they gain a partial/full Zetsu body (Obito and Madara). They only thing they might be able to do is hide the beast, from a bond with it, and combine their dojutsu with the beasts own powers if possible.
