His body being there when Naruto and Sasuke were rushing past was just symbolic of the major villains and events leading up to this battle. It's all ruins now the only thing that remains is for Naruto and Sasuke to throw down. It not only gives Madara a bit of a tribute but adds dramatic effect for the readers and watchers.
