Yes because plot is the ultimate excuse for everything.

You can't kill the Juubi or the Juubi-jin, you have to seal it. Gai has no way of winning.

Madara grew back half his body no problem. Headshots will do diddly.


Not to mention Madara never even attacked once against Gai. He didn't even bother defending against his ultimate attack.

Exactly, Gai being not fresh has no meaning when one man open inner eight gates. THe chakra flow will be forced to full effect also one of gate is gate of regeneration or something like that which heal/regenerate so it won't matter.

Gai is not on Juubi Jinchurki level although really close to it.
