Debatable. We must see if she really passed out per se.
Anyways, there is no evidence in the manga that supports the theory of people getting out of genjutsu when they pass out "inside one" of these genjutsu.
If my memory serves me right, this information was released in one of those OVA, but that's not manga at all.
Now, in the manga, it was implied that in order to get out "from inside" a genjutsu, you would need to disconnect all your senses at once, and that the ninjutsu 'Kai' would serve for this purpose.
But if your ninjutsu power were not high enough, you would not have any option but to wait for someone else to wake up from outside.
Chiyo + Kakashi + Sakura + Naruto vs Itachi proved this fact.
Also, you can perfectly be "passed out" and waiting for someone to wake you up from genjutsu (It's a matter of definitions. "Passed out" is when your senses are not in our plane of reality, so Rin was passed out in the following scene).
