That seems to me like Sasuke saw the after-effects of the illusion, not the effects occurring during the illusion. After all, she got up on her own, there was no release. She screamed after seeing the illusion and then she passed out while foaming at the mouth.

Or course there are genjutsu that hold people in some state of paralysis or sleep, but not all.

Anyways, there is no evidence in the manga that supports the theory of people getting out of genjutsu when they pass out "inside one" of these genjutsu.

If my memory serves me right, this information was released in one of those OVA, but that's not manga at all.

Now, in the manga, it was implied that in order to get out "from inside" a genjutsu, you would need to disconnect all your senses at once, and that the ninjutsu 'Kai' would serve for this purpose.

But if your ninjutsu power were not high enough, you would not have any option but to wait for someone else to wake up from outside.

Chiyo + Kakashi + Sakura + Naruto vs Itachi proved this fact.

Also, you can perfectly be "passed out" and waiting for someone to wake you up from genjutsu (It's a matter of definitions. "Passed out" is when your senses are not in our plane of reality, so Rin was passed out in the following scene).

I'm not saying you don't have a point. I'm just saying there is evidence of the contrary as well. In the scans you showed, who released sakura? It seemed to me, whenever someone was held in the grips of the genjutsu, they generally don't pass out, meaning close their eyes. They are usually dazed or conscious but in a state of paralysis, that is, except for a sleeping genjutsu.

Whatever type it is, as you say, we'll have to wait and see how Sakura revives to know for sure. I'm not saying I'm definitively correct in my position.
