Im not talking about the government, im talking about society, I can get fired for speaking the truth and thats the problem. The world will be better if we are allowed to say whats in our hearts and then understanding each other
You can get fired for saying something the business owner - or those so empowered by the business owner(s) - does not like, true.
And how is this a problem?
It's his business. He can have employees as he chooses to. He doesn't need a rhyme or reason to who he hires and fires.
Would you have someone come in and tell you that you can't fire a waitress who tells the customers exactly what she thinks and drives away business?
Business is not politically correct. Business is business.
I am not going to get a job as a waitress if I apply at hooters. Not without a lot of surgery and compromising my dignity as a male.
I am not going to demand a winery provide, for me, a cupcake as a customer. Nor am I going to force a Jewish Rabbi to perform a Christian marriage ceremony in a mosque while reading from the satanic bible.
If the gay bartender is freaking out the customers and causing them to go elsewhere - he's got to find something else to do, quite possibly somewhere else. The business owner gets to decide whether or not he wants to try and change his clientele to fit his employees or whether he wants to hire employees who fit his clientele.
It's that simple. You can't force social paradigms on business. If people want gay bartenders, they'll find places with gay bartenders. If people want men pretending to be women to serve them food - they'll find a restaurant that does that. If people -don't- want those things, they will go elsewhere if a business chooses to 'change with the times.'
If an employer fires everyone who disagrees with him - then he's going to have trouble keeping a business together. If an employer doesn't ever fire anyone no matter what the infraction - then he is going to have trouble keeping a business together. You can't force good business ethics on business, either - but the market is pretty good about punishing poor business leadership/management all on its own.
