I honestly couldn't tell you any specifics. Don't know much about the particular job Lol

I'm studying Industrial Engineering so I hope to go into some sort of project management or consulting eventually though

I hope you realize that not all of them start out making 6 figures; only a small handful of them do. You have to factor in job security as well; what's the point of having a high salary when you can't find a job or get laid off? I'd say pick the one with best job security, assuming you like all three of them.

I would choose Project Engineer. Mainly reason is because I´m studying Civil Engineer xD

Tho if I have interest for Petroleum Engineer, I´d go for Drilling Engineer.
Reason is, I know there are some countries that still have petroleum but they can´t extract them yet (probably due to machinary not being good enough or there are other obstacles that cause the drilling extremely expensive). Besides that, you can use this knowledge for drilling other natural resources (such as some minerals or other things)

This is just my opinion. The final decision is still yours

Most of them do actually. Lots of Petroleum Engineers are going to retire by the next 10 years so its going to be in my favor. Drilling has the best job security btw.

Your going into Engineering dude any job involving that will never be easy. But to the topic at hand, have you taken any internships yet? Also what grade year are you in? My best advice is to take as many internships as you can so you can get a great feel for which you feel the most comfortable with. Back in my school days i had gone with Boeing and Chevron along with my brother in law and he ended up going with Chevron and I with Boeing. But we both graduated with a Mechanical Degree and had jobs literally right after we received our diploma. It's true that Engineers have the most jobs available to them than any other job in the world, but if you don't have any experience then it's hard for companies that want to hire you.

I'll specialize in Petroleum Geoscience. But I think the 1st or the 2nd ones are good. You should probably ask someone like a doctor in the place you'll study. Helps a lot.

All jobs with a starting salary of $60-80k is hard lol.

you need to decide that by yourself.

i am about to become a civil engineer.
those branches or subdivisions you mentioned above,they dont offer a job where you just sit in your office and you get paid.
engineers from such branches has to do hell of job. its hard work. therefore - the huge salary.
you need to find what you are compatible with.
you might have to live away from home for most of the year , your lifestyle will be different.
i will tell you something about project managers.
project managers are the main/chief people who control a particular project.
a project manager always gets higher salary because he has to manage everything about the project.
mostly its office/paper work.

your parents/friends/teachers are right.

dont pick a job just because it offers higher salary, after all you are gonna dedicate most your life to that work
