1. He stop trying to be itachi once Itachi started acting different.
2. He wanted Danzo dead and it happen. Destroying the village was just being greedy. fall back!
3. He want to change the system. Being hokage allow you to do that. If there was another logical method, he would've pick that. so fall back!
4. He realize being hokage is not enough. So revolution time! lelouch time!
