[Spoilers] What if? (spoilers for anime only viewers)

What if, by a very slim chance, gai dies in the anime? How would you react? I know that the chances for this to happen are very slim (nearly non existant) but hypothetically, what would you guys think of it?

The reason I'm asking this is because when he comes back to life, he will probably be in a pitiful state. I know naruto put some life force back into his body but it doesn't mean his body is gonna come back to normal.
