Why? Because it would take a moon shaped chunk out of the earth, Killing pretty much the entire Shinobi alliance, Destroying every character in naruto except the Interplanetary Rinnehawk, and in general killing everything.
But that's not all! The moon created would fall back to earth with huge force, and if you think that wouldn't be so bad, go as the nearest Dinosaur. The asteroid that wiped them out was about 20km wide, and the moon is 3475 Km wide.

The narutoverse is lucky that Kaguya showed up and moved the fight to another dimension. The yin yang seal is a planet buster.
