So that's the translation from the Last scans. According to this quote, my bet is he's thinking of either Naruto or the Hokage (which seems to be Kakashi). Which means Sasuke finally dropped down his agenda and finally agreed with Naruto in the end.

"Here" would be Konoha, is my best guess which means he returned to the village. I don't think it's that far a stretch since Shounen generally have happy endings.

Thoughts of your own on this?

Sasuke is referring to Itachi, since he is gone, he has no choice but to protect the Leaf, or Itachi's wishes.

This sounds the most plausible to me so far.

Japanese speakers have mentioned so far that with the kanji used, it implies that the "he" who "isn't here" is one of his peers, while the "you" is an older person. If he is in Konoha, he could be saying that he'll be Kakashi's guard since Naruto isn't there at the time.

Or, he may have never returned to the village and is instead talking to another elder saying he'll protect them, like Orochimaru or something along those lines.

He's likely in Konoha, though. That's what the series has been leading up to afterall, for Sasuke to be on good terms with Team 7. The reason he isn't wearing the headband may be that even though he will protect the village, he doesn't have any pride for it and therefore feels no desire to wear their symbol.

Or, of course there's also the possibility that Sasuke gets tnj'd in this fight, decides not to kill anyone, and just leaves the villages alone. He does his own thing and doesn't return. But he's not Team 7's enemy in the end.

Nice. I'm having similar thoughts. I think he won't agree completely with Naruto, but just enough to have a sense of entitlement to it because of Itachi. But I'd actually like that. The villanous Sasuke isn't my type of thing.

I don't think so. I think Nardo is going to be defeated ironically enough. He isn't correct about all this. If Kishimoto lets Nardo win, it isn't really anything more than fan service.

Well the translators said the "you" used in that quote is meant for someone older/senior to him, this may likely mean he is protecting Kakashi in that moment, since Kakashi isn't as strong as he used to be after losing MS, that's just my guess, the quote could mean anything U_U

Naruto is not currently there so Sasuke has to protect Kakashi (his senior) until they rendezvous with Naruto.

Yeah. Not to mention that it's Shounen so, it's kinda expected. You also have the fact that the chain of hatred has to be broken. Otherwise, Naruto and all his character would make no sense or be for nothing up until now.
