I read that too and I was like "wait huh..."

But I dont think we should take that literal. I think "continues the story of" was just saying the plot of the series or whatever. Not necessarily saying what the movie is ABOUT, y'know?

I doubt it, unless they're really planning to extend the series. Kishi's basically gotten the most out of this manga. I believe it's even longer than the DB series, ie DB/DBZ. Maybe they're planning to let the studio continue the cannon via movies like Toriyama is doing with DBZ.

It probably just means "continue" the story of Shippuden with "continuing the story behind Naruto's search for Sasuke, his childhood bestfriend, and Uchiha clan's notorius Akatsuki member, Madara" being a summary of Shipudden.

but Madara died and he wasn't really part of the Akatsuki but the Sasuke part sounds like it's believable.

SOme poster who says he is from Japan(on this site) made the claim that the movie is not actually canon, but some sort of "alternate ending". We will see.

Then that person didn't learn his Japanese when the trailer clearly said "This great movie that connects with the original work"
