Either way, he was still a high ranking member, and likely one of the founding members, I doubt he was a pawn.

And, he could handle a loss, he handled P'li's death more gracefully than any other characters, using it to let himself be empowered (not through hatred, but through actually being capable of letting go) unlike Sasuke honestly, what series were you watching?

If you paid attention you'd know that he meant chaos is needed in order to restore balance. Ba Sing was in chaos after the oppression. Eventually it'll balance out. Or so he believes.

Why do you think he quoted Laghima in that very same sentence?

Destroying anything that people have became accustomed to is bound to cause chaos. That's kind of how most revolutions work.

Zaheer was at least cooler, besides, he seemed to want a state similar to the society of the air nomads, if anything, except more familial, with no community. I imagine he figured that if people weren't forced by governments to fight wars, pay taxes, and such, they'd just form comfortable family bonds, and leaderless communities.

Yeah he was cooler, him killing the earth queen was an instant cool boost. Although the fallen earth kingdom would most likely be his/red lotus envision of the entire world.

First off, what do you think his new system will be? Hmm, what, unicorns farting rainbows and a magic dragon protecting everyone? A lot of you Sasuke fans are even more idealistic than Naruto fans, if you honestly think Sasuke will implement a fair or even free society. Also, I wouldn't call plotting genocide, wanting to kill someone almost every second of your life, and ranting at your recently deceased brother while proclaiming joy at having killed someone as signs of a stable mind.

The thing is, the Earth Kingdom/ Ba Sing Se was in such disarray because of how long they'd be oppressed/repressed, dating all the way back to the 100 Year War, I doubt he actually wanted wanton violence and people slaughtering each other in the streets, I imagine he envisioned people living together as the spirits did.
