He said he wasn't interested in it, but the fact Oda gave this insight about the ope ope no mi ability makes me wonder if he doesn't predict a scenario where Law will have to use this ability to grant immortality to someone in the nearby future(or after some point). On Luffy?

I don't see Luffy willing to get immortality, but it's possible that Luffy will be in such a critical situation(even more than 2years prior) where Law would have no other choice than doing that

No I don't think so
The way I interpret things is that Law's power has an important role to play in the overall plot of One Piece.
What Oda now did imo was make from Law's character which we thought was pretty minor on -grand scale- and suddenly gave him some sort of great relevance
Whatever that national treasure is or can do it probably has something to do with the rotten secrets of the WG
I feel like Oda has just made a reason to sort of introduce Law in the MC area..not entirely there but much more important than we all thought

This sudden reveals may be a way to introduce law as a member of the SH (although that is still unlikely)
immortality means he can still die from weapons right?
in one translation it said 'eternal youth' so I think it just means 'can't die from old age'
All the way immortal seems ridiculous to me tbh

Actually both Doflamingo and Law became suddenly more relevant. It seems Doflamingo knows the secret about the celestial dragon's most valuable treasures and it means that even after his defeat, he may play a role in the future

However it wasn't my point. My point was concerning the double edge sword ability that grants the ope ope no mi. I don't think Oda revealed such a thing for nothing. We'll see that being used against someone in my opinion

I don't see Oda going on a spree and killing off characters... Vergo & Monet died during the last arc. Law had significance to the story so I don't think he'll die during this arc.

You don't know that. For all we know they are still alive somewhere but Doflamingo himself doesn't know. Vergo at least had a great survival possibility. As for Law, never said he will have to die during this arc. It may happen in following arcs like against Kaido for example

PS: nice avatar

My guess is that Corazon had the String String Fruit before Law, and then gave the Eternal Life to him, as a child, which was suffering from an incurable death-threatening disease.

Why would he need to make an alliance to take down Kaido if he could just beat him by himself since he's immortal? Law would already have soloed all 4 yonkou and the WG if he was immortal since no one could kill him.

Doflamingo thought Law didn't know that ability despite knowing Corazon saved Law's life. That means he saved him with other means than the ope ope fruit's immortal operation. I don't think Corazon had that ability(as a possessor), but just gave it to Law, especially since it makes no sense he used it on Law considering it's said it's Doflamingo who killed him

One manga.net had a better translation. You just get eternal youth and don't have to grow old.

Being immortal doesn't mean you can't be beaten.

If he goes against Garp he would just throw him in jail for the rest of his immortal life. I don't get why you would think how immortality grants you super powers all of a sudden.

Luffy is definitely not gaining immortality. That would kill the suspense of the end of his journey, whether he lives to enjoy being PK, or dies after becoming it.

Law probably will die though... I doubt Oda would reveal that ability and not do anything with it. No time soon though.

Nope. Oda revealed the ability but not to make Law use it, its more on the lines of somebody else has already used it like Corazon maybe.

In a manga where Pell can survive a nuke im sure that Law can make it to EoS.
