Long story short, I think it was related to his Sage Mode. Possibly something that can seal Naruto's Sage Mode permanently robbing him of the ability to use chakra.

What does NB think? Why did Hashi trust this to Sasuke and not Naruto? I think this will be instrumental in how the Sasuke vs. Naruto fight resolves.

According to Hashirama, it's a way to bind Sage chakra. I think Sasuke's going to (ab)use this to cancel Naruto's sage mode. Or possibly permanently bind it. Naruto will lose BM and SM permanently perhaps.

That was supposed to work on maddy who have hashi senjutsu not on naruto who got toad and sage senjutsu

Did he just like forget that he brought the hokages there, had a chat with them, and learn that hashirama liked the uchihas and that Itachi inherited his will? Doesn't that mean hashirama is a figure that Sasuke should have already had cooperated with?

And what correlation was there with Izuna? Like why was that even mentioned I feel like kishi just didn't know what to do there

I think he gave Sasuke a jutsu and his remaining chakra. No one knows what type of Sage mode Hashirama has or how he came to be a sage. Oro with all of his research into Hashi has never been able to find out. If there was a place to go to become that type of sage Oro would have found out about it because he wanted that power for himself. As the only shinobi to be born with wood release it could be he was born with that sage mode too and found the way to awaken it.

It could have been just a way to further the plot to get Sasuke to Madara like someone else stated or it might have only been a way to bind Hashi's type of sage mode to prevent Madara from using it. It might not work on Naruto's type of Sage Mode. I guess we'll find out if Sasuke tries to use it on Naruto.
