( Nehan Shōja no Jutsu ) - Temple of Nirvana Technique
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes one handseal, placing all the targets in the area under an illusion where feathers appear to fall from the sky. This slowly puts the opponents to sleep after one turn.

There is truly not much to say about this illusion. The user performs only one hand seals and causes feathers to call from the sky and the feathers will have a soothing effect on the opponent slowly forcing them to sleep. The thing with this technique is that though it'll eventually force them to sleep, it works very slowly. So you need to wait one turn after it is used before the opponent falls asleep, and the same if used against you. So during that one turn you can easily establish that a genjutsu is being used and break out. Not a very useful technique because of this turn limit.
So this is the technique Kabuto used in part 1 of Naruto. As you said the user performs a single hand seal and causes the target to fall asleep over a single turn by causing feathers to fall from the sky producing a soothing effect as you said. So the weakness with this technique is clearly the time restraint. It is an incredibly unique genjutsu however as it forces the target to sleep where very few genjutsu can do that. In fact I don't think any custom genjutsu are capable of this since you can't necessarily say how the body will react to feeling soothed when you try to use that.

But nonetheless it is quite unique in that regard. So it is a very obvious genjutsu. There are no jutsu I recall that cause feathers to fall from the sky so seeing it is quite obvious and simply using Kai with the appropriate rank or a full body surge can break you out of it before you fall to sleep. But if they somehow miraculously fail to do that then you've managed to catch them and put them to sleep which means you'll definitely get an easy shot on them.

Its a pretty useless genjutsu but as I said unique nonetheless.

( Kokuangyo no Jutsu ) - Bringer-of-Darkness Technique
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes one handseal, causing the opponent to believe they have been trapped in a world of infinite darkness, where their sense of sight is useless. It is capable of affecting multiple targets within range. However, it does not negate their other senses.

It requires only one hand seal and in all it is simply a visual illusion. It affects only the opponent's vision, but it affects the opponents vision at such a high level though. The illusion makes it seem as though the entire world around the opponent is becoming black and everything around them is covered in darkness. It completely eliminates one of the user's senses. But you still have your other senses which you can use properly, and you can analyze why you believe it is a genjutsu then using the genjutsu breaking rules you can break out of it with pain.

So this is the technique that Hashirama used against Hiruzen in Part 1 during that epic fight.

So this technique requires a single hand seal and works the same way as all other regular genjutsu. This is a fairly powerful genjutsu seeing as its A-Rank. Nagashi isn't strong enough to break someone out of this. It would take Earth Hardening or Kai to do it. Pain would be unnecessary (unless you really have to) because the amount of pain you have to go through to escape an A-Rank genjutsu would kill you shortly after. So that really isn't an option. The genjutsu, as you said, solely affects vision and completely takes it away from the opponent covering everything they see in an absolute darkness. So it is important to remember that when you do blind your opponent they can still hear, smell, taste, and feel. Meaning that they aren't completely helpless. Most typical fights that use this will simply break out of it beforehand but if they don't they can still say they hear an incoming attack unless it is completely quiet.

The cool thing about this genjutsu is that Sharingan can't actually see through it. It takes a Mangekyo Sharingan to do it. However with that said using this genjutsu on a Sharingan user will still probably just lead them to Heaven and Earth Change and completely reversing it back on you ,_,.

Now building on that point I have one question - can a Byakugan/Rinnegan user see that their chakra flow is disrupted? Or since it is completely black does it disrupt their eyesight in that sense? Like can they even see their own body to see that their chakra flow is disrupted or is it only the surroundings? I hope that question made sense xD.

Overall it is a useful and powerful genjutsu since you force the opponent to use an S-Rank technique to full body surge their way out of force them to use Kai. Very few opponents will be forced into a pain release unless they don't have the necessary techniques.

( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release
Rank: C-S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 15-40
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user does one hand seal to focus and then proceeds to disturb his chakra flow by forcefully stopping it momentarily and then "spiking" his spiritual energy, unbalancing his chakra. This dispels any genjutsu set upon the user except MS Eye Techniques, Paralysis-like Genjutsu and Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant. The effectiveness of this technique is dependent upon the skill of the user. A Jounin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank. An S-class ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank. A Sannin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank. A Sage rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank. The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.

I don't think I have to say much about this. It is a concept that most people are familiar with. It is one of the ways to break out of genjutsu. I will just skim over how to use it and how it works. Use it only if you can determine if you are in a genjutsu. Meaning that even before you can use it you need to figure out that you are in a genjutsu using logic so that you can then prepare to use this to break out. You cannot just use it coincidentally and say, yay, I broke out of it. Two, you need to clap your hands together to do it as show in the anime, or you need to place your hand on your partner. You simple either stop your chakra flow then surge it, or insert your chakra into your partner's body. Simple.

So finally Kai. One of the three ways to free yourself from Genjutsu. So this is heavily based on your ninja rank and the rank of the genjutsu. At my current rank I can simply dispel A-Rank genjutsu with this technique. Anything higher than that I will have some difficulty with as I need an F-Ranked full body surge or pain equivalent to break out of S-Rank (which is pretty devastating pain).

SO to begin with this technique requires some kind of movement. Whether it be a hand seal, clapping your hands, or placing your hand on an ally. There is movement. Meaning this is not viable to be used when you want to break out of a paralysis genjutsu. That is probably something most people mess up on and cost them a fight since their counter to a paralysis genjutsu wouldn't be valid. And of course you have to figure out you're in a genjutsu. If you don't you can't use it without metagaming. And the way you figure out can vary wildly...from a simple analysis or usage of dojutsu/sensory.

So this is a great last resort technique. Normally I'll use a full body surge to break from genjutsu as that is simply faster and especially given that most genjutsu out there as customs are paralysis based making this technique useless. However I can use this in any other situation as long as I analyze that I'm in a genjutsu. The strength of the technique wholly depends on the rank of the genjutsu cast upon me. I should really get to Sage rank ._."

It is a very straight forward method to get out of a genjutsu.
