Kisame is underrated imo.

Before I talk about some overlooked feats of Kisame, I just want to say that I think outside of Itachi-Obito-Pain, he's the strongest in Akatsuki, So I still think Itachi beats him, but Kisame is insanely strong when looking deeper in the manga.

I don't think he's too underrated like Hidan, but I think some of his feats are overlooked.

Let's begin:

-Took down the 4 tails jinchuuriki low diff-ish.

Despite not seeing the fight,

-He hid inside Samehada for around a week-ish, without eating.

-Despite being "weakened" he summoned 1000 sharks [

-Great Shark Missile/Bomb (translations vary), which is Kisame's trump card is

. That puts bijuu at a big disadvantage.

-Despite taking a direct hit by 7G Gai, and getting knocked out.

4T Kyubi couldn't even break Yamato's wood.

So this is what weakened Kisame was capable of ^. You can say plot tried to make him seem stronger, but plot also nerfed him by Kishi making him go up against 7G Gai who is his ultimate Disadvantage. Great Shark Bomb/Missile is like Yata mirror, has this hype that we'll never see its limits to.

Ms Sasuke got hit by a v1 Lariat, and was left breathing heavily + unconscious. This shows how insanely Durable Kisame is, Kisame breaking Yamato's wood in the earlier point is also another indicator.

Don't underestimate the Solo King's right hand man ^^

People generally only look at water dome when they say Kisame is strong, they ignore all of his other qualities. Especially the intelligence/Durability aspect.

People generally only look at water dome when they say Kisame is strong, they ignore all of his other qualities. Especially the intelligence/Durability aspect.

People look at water dome when they are aware that is the only way he can effectively defeat the character he's pitted against, which is a few. Everyone I see usually points out all his other very effective jutsu. Also from what I've seen, nobody(that I've seen) underrates his intelligence and durability as it's always brought up, but then again, I don't see all the posts you do and vice versa.

Ah well, I guess I'll agree on that, people do tend to think of Water Dome far more than his other abilities/overall worth. I've said myself Kisame will need Water Dome to defeat certain opponents, but that is against the likes of MS users and so on. You know, people he fights where he essentially needs Water Dome to finish them.

I've said myself Kisame will need Water Dome to defeat certain opponents, but that is against the likes of MS users and so on. You know, people he fights where he essentially needs Water Dome to finish them.

I will say that location is a key factor for him winning fights, he was surrounded by water even if he was weakened.

Only the biju have power comparable to the perfect susano'o. And Kisame is effectively a biju without a tail. Need I say more? Kisame is clearly on a higher pedestal then Sasori, Kakuzu, and Deidara.

Samehada struggled to absorb Itachi's normal fire style, Kisame lacks the speed to stop Amaterasu, he can sacrifice Samehada but that's it.

Someone pointed that out in a thread a few months ago. In theory, Great Shark Bomb/Missile absorbs Susano'o, but Shockwaves would destroy it. Same way 7G Gai's Hirudora did.
