Please I hope you realize there are different type of cells in the body. Like bone cells are different from the ones that form your hair. Yeah Kimimaro can only control his bone cells. That is clear when he states bone forming and destroying of cells.
He can obviously controll cells other than bone cells, Otherwise the skin that is destoryed when pulling bones out/Taking damage would not repair itself like it has proven to be able to do.

Its not repairing itself, it was pulled apart and then the bone layer put everything back together, the bone layer under the skin controlled the whole process. Kimimaro does not have an ordinary body, his body has the ability to to push bones out and allow for skin to come apart, but there is no blood so he isnt actually injuring himself when he does this.

Also Kimi's Skin repairing it's self isn't only for when he rips bones out of his body, he has visable damage (such as a hole in his cheek) when he tanked Gaara's sand coffin, Yet both the Skin and bone repaired the damage that was there.
The manga and the databook says absolutely NOTHING about Kimimaro's so called regeneration, however it mentions that he can control his bones. Why is this still debated?
