The Rinnegan seemingly doesn't required any specific eye, just as long as there are eyes in the head of the one who mixes Hagoromo's chakra. In this case it un-blinded the eye. Madara transplanted the Rinnegan active to Nagato, it was always active, but he never used it until in emotional distress.

Not when he lost his cool. But that still doesn't explain why it didn't go from three tomoe to ems and then to renningan, the same was madara used it when he was revived. Even kakashi can take the 3 tomoe to the ms state even if he can't deactivate it completely.

Just to clear somethings up, sasuke obtained his renningan after kabuto pumped him full of hashis chakra who in turn is the younger sons chakra.

He just put all bijuu under his control and made 9 CT in an instant...sasuke is Stronger than madara and madara is Stronger than nagato according to kabuto. Sasuke is more mobile and has sage chakra plus advanced rinnegan plus sharingan abilities....no question sasuke wins nagato fanboys

Nagato's CT was much bigger and Sasuke's PS is only half the size of Madara's.

But Sasuke wins solely because his genjutsu is only second to IT. If he was able to capture 9 Tailed Beasts that Easily, He will put Nagato under pretty quickly.
