[Discussion] The chapters that killed Fairy Tail?

First off this is not me bashing Fairy Tail.. Hell I think Tartaros is one of the best or the best arc in Fairy Tail and Hiro is doing a great job of picking this manga back up from the GMG..

But this is more of a question... Apparently chapters 321-322 are what people deemed "the chapters that killed Fairy Tail" What was your reaction to these chapters? I myself was massively disappointed and felt that Hiro made a huge mistake but there were a lot of backlash(hell some even made threats) were these chapters a culmination of what was happening beforehand because I know some where hating the story after the "threesome battle"

Or was it just a "holy shit what the hell was this" outburst and dropped it immediately

Were you already disappointed in the arc and 321/322 was the last straw or were the chapters really THAT bad for you?

OT: Some of the GMG arc was a bit disappointing, but this current arc is great, and will only get better with the return of Acnologia and Igneel.

The GMG was good for me. Somethings weren't really need it. But it was good, but this current Arc is really going well.

The only thing that i didn't like is the future Stuff .

You can't say that Natsu and Gajeel beating the Twin Dragons should've happened or at least it should've been a much closer fight. Also Jura was one of the Ten Holy Mages and he got beat easily by Laxus

Natsu and gajeel fight was great ,but i didn't like that it was all natsu's.

however its no surprise they have won ! From the very beginning of that arc i thought The twin dragons were too arrogant and natsu would kick their asses later (hiro made it obvious as ****)

Jura was nothing but a hype to me .when it came down to feats he wasn't that impressive i always questioned his statue as one of the ten holy mages ,but then it was revealed that the ten holy mages aren't the strongest and its not about the strength but their abilities etc.. i guess that explained it for me.

Its no surprise that Those characters got defeated by the MC They were on the same level . what i would find nonsense and disappointing is if current natsu defeated the dragons ,zeref etc..

The only thing that's killing FT is the bunch of haters whose mentality is that a good manga should go exactly the way they want, full of killings shown, a rather consistent losses from the good guys, a list of characters all of which possess a Goku-level power, and endless fighting as if their watching someone playing Marvel vs Capcom on PS4 and ends there / no story. However, FT is too good that no matter how hard they try, FT's still loved. Regardless, hated or loved, the fact that FT is getting the attention of a HUGE number of people, it only means that FT is really something.

Individual chapters can not kill a series. If you drop a series for a particular chapter, it means you were simply finding an excuse to drop it, so the chapter itself is nothing more than a scapegoat as you judge a series as a whole, not in specific chapters. People who do that shouldn't be reading manga in the first place.

And the chapters you are talking about belong to my favourite ones, especially the 2nd one you mentioned. I love the scene where sting surrenders and I love the entire GMG arc (with the exception of all the time traveling screw ups). People who say they quit because of that, where people who had a disdain for FT in the first place. They probably would have rather seen the main characters be beaten to a bloody pulp. With other words they weren't reading because they liked the series, they were being sadists as they read it because they wanted to see it go down. Then consequently saying that they 'drop' this series because of these chapters, is supposed to be an 'insult' towards the series. In reality they weren't reading it from the start to enjoy it.

I mean look at this section and this thread. We can have countless of normal discussions between FT fans without problems, but the moment someone makes a thread like this, all the haters come out of the woodwork. These aren't people who discuss FT. Most of these people don't even read FT that often or maybe have never read it at all and are just monkeying what other haters said and many people who say they dropped this series because of a few chapters belong in the same category.

It's possible that you read a series, but that many things in there are things you personally just don't like and that at one point it reaches a point where you say you quit. But that's something different than saying it kills the series. Those two chapters are very typical for FT and where in essence not something now. Meaning people who say they quit after that, should have quit a long time ago as it's nothing new or they are people I just described four sentences ago. But then saying it 'kills' the series is in fact them admitting they just want trash the series with their irrational hate.

You couldn't have said it better. My favourite part of reading any FT thread, is to see when Caliburn shows up to point out to the haters why they are wrong. And they never ever have anything to reply to him.

But, why people have to complain about a manga/anime which they don't like or read goes beyond my understanding. I don't watch HXH but that doesn't give me permission to go and complain the whole time (not that I do complain. I actually intend to watch the series later on).

If they actually just put some time into FT, they will see that it is an enjoyable manga/anime without having to concentrate intensely like Albert Einstein to understand and follow. They just need to relax.
