At this point, no one will agree with his way of doing things and another war will break out. Any chance he had at redemption is gone now, which is a shame. This guy just sealed his fate.
Hagoromo had to question what he meant by "Hokage":
He didn't mean it in the literal sense, rather a surpeme leader over all. Some kind of unified nation under his control. He wants to demonstrate how he thinks things should be done. Not by simply changing the shinobi system, rather completely destroying it and making it anew.
And now the meaning behind *delete the past* is clear as day.
Also, I think what Naruto said in the past is no longer valid:
Naruto has become a symbol of hope for the world, and the one person that all of the Bijuu can trust wholeheartedly. He can't afford to throw away his life trying to save one person, who refuses to accept the way things are now.
He seems no longer willing to tolerate Sasuke's bullshit; the look in his eyes when Sasuke said that he'd kill the kage speaks for itself:
He won't be f**king around this time around. He's willing to go to any means necessary to save the Bijuu:
The one way to save Sasuke may be to kill him and end Indra's incarnations for good; which is a bit dark for a shonen manga, but it seems appropriate. Even the sage has acknowledged that nothing seems to work for them:
Upon Sasuke's death, Naruto, knowing the truth about the Uchiha Massacre, can find a way to change the shinobi system without causing more bloodshed and strife. He will bring the world together and change it through love and peaceful means, similar to what Ashura believed, rather than through power and force, as Indra believed:
Sasuke dying seems to be the best way to go, for starters at least. But he should die fighting for what he believes in. #EndRant
A way to end IT seems to be a problem at the moment, but no one knows if the sage's way is the only way.
