Why do people assume...?

I often hear the argument: Yata can block anything and Totsuka can seal anything because BZ said so. If what I recall is correct, BZ was unaware that Itachi sacrificed his life and was spying on Akatsuki, while Obito/Tobi knew this all along. So why do people assume that he knows everything and that he's right in this particular case?

I'm not considering the possibility of BZ lying. However, I do think about the fact that he might not know the actual limits of those 2, therefore hyping them to no end.
