OT: It's simply the general design of the characters but some are built bigger. A lot of the main characters are also just teens.
Also, do you mean like athletic or bodybuildertype? Some exceptions with a 'bigger build': Raikage, Bee, Zabuza, Jiraiya, Kisame, Juugo..

you are right but I still miss DB aspects when I read it. it is not that look bad but kishi draws muscles weirdly. I can't tell if madara is ripped or anorectic

They almost have no muscles. I understand that they use chakra and all.. but how trends changed in manga and anime is a little bit worrying me. I remember watching tiger mask, dragon ball or other older anime (with exception for siant seiya but its because it has this bisho style). In naruto, even naruto looks like he is pumping ramen too much, his muscularity never developed past beyond pre maturing. is it because of the shonen character of things? characters look like boys forever?

B) All the ninja have a toned body, not a buff body. Why? Toned body improves endurance, stamina, and a buff body would reduce flexibility. Very few people, short of power-based taijutsu users (Raikage), would use something as inefficient as a buff body compared to a tone one.
C) Your way of thinking is honestly outdated by about 10 years now. While there will be characters who are buff in anime, yes. However, the pure-buff shows all ended few years ago. The best way you can return to that is just to rewatch them.

they are below toned down body. they are almost flat. their arms look horribly weak. legs, everything. there is difference between being steroid buff and naturally muscular. for all the time they are jumping, doing super duper things, eating ramen and whatever else naruto even as 17 should look much better

The OP, the title and the content of your posts makes it difficult to see it as a serious attempt to discuss the topic. Anyway I am satisfied with the character drawings as they are. This manga really isn't about the raw physical strength of the characters but contradictory morals.( the villains and the main character's)

I fully agree what kind can you expect of the insides of somebody who does not care to stay in good form? gluttonous swines almost conquered this world, really. too lazy, with other 'priorities' than health, safety for themselves and those they care. it is maybe because I come from the family I come but really.. you cannot be fully intellectually capable without good and healthy body. human organism is a web of connections
