Why Naruto characters are whimps?

They almost have no muscles. I understand that they use chakra and all.. but how trends changed in manga and anime is a little bit worrying me. I remember watching tiger mask, dragon ball or other older anime (with exception for siant seiya but its because it has this bisho style). In naruto, even naruto looks like he is pumping ramen too much, his muscularity never developed past beyond pre maturing. is it because of the shonen character of things? characters look like boys forever?

Some anime make characters look buff to the point where they are almost unrecognisable. Just Naruto characters lack prominent muscles, doesn't mean they are by any means 'whimps'.

Yeah. Look at Street Fighter games. All the characters (adults, teens, male, female) are ****ing ripped beyond reason. It's ****ing disgusting.

Also Dragon Ball Z. You have four year olds who have more muscles than Arnold and Dwayne's love child.

The definition of a wimp: a weak and cowardly or unadventurous person. Naruto or any other characters is the opposite of that for example: current naruto vs the raikage it's pretty obvious who would win yet the raikage has lots of muscles. you don't need muscles to be strong in naruto

just because a guy doesn't have muscles and is slim that doesn't mean he's a whimp and it doesn't mean that he looks girlish...

it does. men bodies are defined by their muscularity. i do not mean steroid like level but greek ideal body. I grew up in house where staying fit is very important. there are no chubbies, fatties and other monstrosities. my father, physics prof is in his 40 and his body looks much better than most of anime characters. my mother, after giving birth to 5 children is slim and fit and she is working 8h day every day. there is no excuse for being a whimp. it islaziness.

I wonder whats the reason why kishi abandoned development of muscles: I think it just might be a tribute to these 'modern' men who are more girlish than girls themselves.
