Why do great series/movies insist of having wars with no real enemy?

With no real enemy I mean people who are alive and have individual goals, instead of just being mindless zombies.

We have:

Naruto with mindless zetsus, and dead characters from the past

Star Wars with robots and clones

Mass Effect with reapers and humanoid zombies (yes reapers can talk and are intelligent but they are machines and boring, comparable to the plants in the "Happening")

Why would they ever think that this is a good idea. Takes away the "war" aspect doesn't it?

You know, I didn't really say that every great series with a war use mindless zombies as enemies. However, I think it's strange that they would ever think that heroes vs zombies would have an emotional impact

Who's the reason why Zetsu clones are attacking? Tobi,Who's controlling the Edo's?Kabuto,they have goals,they were leading their army.Zetsus and Edos were their tools.

And why not include Madara? He has his own goals and wasn't a mindless Zombie,and he did regain his life.

I didn't know plants in this movie can zombifiy people and engulf entire planets causing genocide on a multi-planetary scale.

he means the army isn't actualy people just fodders you don't care about sure their leaders are people but you get the point? when a zetsu clone dies 0 fcks are given when a 100 zetsu clones die no fcks are given.. atleast if 100 fodder shinobi die you might say aww that sucks for u guys...

I see now,but it makes sense in Naruto,since the Akatsuki was a small group.I mean was Masashi suppoused to have had the Akatsuki have 100,000 new members? Or "secret members" lol

There has been no war against them yet. And do you really think a dragged out war against the WW would be interesting? It's much more interesting to know that if they come, everyones screwed.

Long wars needs to have two equally interesting sides.

If one side has OP inhumane beings, one/few battles with everyone will be awesome, an entire war will be boring.

This is probably the best answer. But it the end, they romanticize war by removing the humanity of the the enemy. Starship troopers is a good critic of just that
