Nekura

Looks: [See Pictures]

Personality: Mystogan prefers to stay to himself rather than interact with other people. Being isolated allows Mystogan to ponder questions about life, such as why nations wage war and who he really is. Ever since he was a child, Mystogan would rather stay away from the other Nekura clansmen, feeling pushed away for not having an innate talent for the usage of Keigoku.
Ever since the war between Kirigakure and Kumogakure, Mystogan became at the same time both more drawn in towards himself, as well as more prone to bursts of intense emotion. The death of his friend, the person Mystogan considered his only friend, caused him to pull himself further away from people than before, but it also had left him vulnerable. Instead of being an emotional rock, Mystogan became haunted by sadness, which he often keeps hidden beneath a feign of his emotional security he once had. However, due to the loss of a friend, Mystogan's emotions became more prominent, which he personally saw as a sign of weakness. When his sadness becomes provoked, either by a sad event which genuinely affects Mystogan, or by bringing up the memories of his friend, Mystogan's emotionless wall breaks down to reveal a cover emotion, usually anger, vengeance, or blood-lust, to hide his true, "weak" feelings. In addition, when Mystogan interacts with other people he generally speaks with an arrogant, condescending manner, calling even people older than him "kids".
When using Keigoku, Mystogan's usually cool, calm demeanor vanishes and is replaced by a one-track mind to kill everyone in his path as he finds any of the number of people he wishes to kill. The more his mind is bent towards the natural, evil, and vile ways of the Nekura, the more Mystogan's personality becomes warped, showing dark emotions and intent which Mystogan may or may not truly have or believe, and are simply manifested through the wicked nature of the Juubi's chakra as it is channeled by Mystogan.
After Mystogan's death and revival, he grew even more bitter to the world, and developed a perpetual darkness beneath his calm surface. Even though he appears to be the same calm man he once was, Mystogan's inner personality became twisted, and now he sees everything with judgement, contempt, and general hatred, though he rarely displays it. Now when Mystogan utilizes his Keigoku, the dark emotions that are brought out are more akin to Mystogan's true feelings, rather than new feelings he uses to summon Keigoku. Though the emotions brought out as Mystogan uses Keigoku are his true feelings, they are still augmented and enhanced by the Juubi's foul chakra.

History:

Escape to Minas Morgul

Mystogan's parents had their ancestry within the war-torn village of Amegakure. His father was a shinobi general in charge of a squadron of men on the second line of attack. The front lines would always be sent out, and then Mystogan's father would follow after some time with his men. Mystogan's mother was, at one point, a slave girl who was freed by Amegakure's second-line general. Every man on Mystogan's father's side had been a part of the military power, while every woman on his mother's side had been a slave since they first arrived in Amegakure generations ago. After a few years of marriage, the head of the militia, who was also the leader of Amegakure, discovered that the wife one of his generals was formerly a slave-girl, and was not pleased. After the failed assassination attempt on Mystogan's father, he quickly returned to his home, which was burning as he arrived. Finding his wife, two months pregnant, among the smoke, fallen walls, and flame, Mystogan's father carried her out of the building and fled Amegakure. Fearing for his wife's life, Mystogan's father fled north to Kusagakure, where medical shinobi attended to his wife's and unborn child's conditions. In the third month of her pregnancy, Mystogan's father took his wife and traveled the world, looking for somewhere isolated to hide from the world.

As they wandered the world in search of a safe-place, Mystogan's parents came across a mysterious mountain range, far from the Land of Lightning. Having no idea where they were, Mystogan's father came to the conclusion that no one else would know where they were as well, and so they decided to live within the mountains until their child was grown, and then they would re-enter society as a family. That was their plan. But after setting up a small shelter within the mountains, and staying a few nights, their camp was attacked. In the middle of the night, several shinobi arrived in the area Mystogan's family had set up, and began to carry the people living within the shelter away. After struggling and putting up a fight, Mystogan's father was subdued by means unknown to him at the time, and as a precautionary measure his wife was subdued by the same method. The two unconscious people were then carried through the mountains to an area they knew not about.

When they awoke, Mystogan's parents were within a building with many people standing around. Though he struggled, Mystogan's father could not break the bonds placed on him. After being told to calm down, and elderly man explained the situation the two people were in, and explained that they had been taken to a village known as Minas Morgul. After further explanation, an agreement was reached that Mystogan's family would live in Minas Morgul indefinitely, so that the location of the village would not be spread outside of the Land of Demons, and so that they would have a place to stay. And so Mystogan's family lived in the village for several months before he was born.

Nekura Child

When his mother gave birth to him, she also gave birth to Mystogan's twin brother, who was named Jellal. Now, when Mystogan was born, he had a red marking over his right eye. Concerned about his child, Mystogan's father inquired the elders about the marking and received not a true answer, but speculation. As nothing of this sort had happened before, the elders could only guess that Mystogan's condition was caused by the innate Keigoku in the environment, in addition to the amount of Keigoku his mother was exposed to when she was first taken to Minas Morgul. Not understanding anything, Mystogan's father lashed out in rage and attacked the elders before he was quickly and effortlessly subdued. When he came to, Mystogan's father was told that the boy would be treated as a Nekura clansman, as he had the potential to use the type of Ninjutsu known as Keigoku by the Nekura clan.

Mystogan then grew up as a member of the Nekura clan, but due to the fact that he wasn't a full-blooded Nekura clansman, he was unable to open portals at an early age. Flustered, the elders of the clan sought desperately for a solution to the problem; if he had the mark, it would be an embarrassment for him to be unable to utilize Keigoku. As the elders searched a means for the boy to learn their ways, Mystogan discovered the library of Minas Morgul at the age of six. Having no knowledge of the world around him, Mystogan read through history text books to learn. And this is how he spent the first ten years of his life; learning. Mystogan became the scholar of the Nekura clan, reading until there were no more books within the library for him to read. And when that happened, he would read them again. And so Mystogan studied everything Minas Morgul had to offer him; the 4 Nobel Clans of Konohagakure, the founding of each of the Hidden Villages, the inner workings of Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Fuuinjutsu, and Keigoku, the history of the Nekura clan, among many other topics. Through his intense studying and the knowledge he gained through it, Mystogan became known throughout Minas Morgul as the Scholar of the Nekura Clan. However, one day Mystogan would have to leave Minas Morgul on a mission he held close to him.

Sibling Rivalry

On the night of Mystogan's seventeenth birthday, something within his brother's mind snapped. Mystogan had been the sole focus of the Nekura clansmen in regards to his family; his father worked menial tasks within the village to earn their stay, his mother was nothing more than another woman within the clan, and finally his little brother was of no consequence to the clan, and so was overlooked. And being overlooked made Jellal upset, to the point where, on the night of his seventeenth birthday, he lost his mind.

Seventeen years of neglect from anyone other than his own parents bottled up inside him, Jellal snuck into the home of one of the Clan Councilmen and assassinated him in his sleep. After the murder, Jellal began to return to his senses, as though he were waking from a dream, and realized what he had done. Scared for his life, as he knew how brutal and ruthless the Nekura were from living with them for seventeen years, Jellal ran from the village under the cover of shadows, staying only where the moon couldn't shine as he silently stalked out of Minas Morgul, escaping from all guards. When the sun rose, the whole village was assembled before the dead body of the Councilman. When it was discovered that Jellal was no longer in the village, he has already found his way out of the mountains and into the mainland of the continent; he was untraceable from Minas Morgul.

Sitting on the outside of the crowd, clenching his fists in anger, Mystogan eventually stood up and shouted to the entire village that he would personally find and kill his brother for the atrocity he had committed. The elders of the village, knowing that Mystogan had learned nothing of how to fight or use chakra of any form, attempted to tell him to stay, but when Mystogan brought up that Jellal neither had learned anything, there was less of a reason for him to stay. When his parents confronted him, Mystogan simply told them that nothing could stop him from going to find his brother, and that was that. The next day, Mystogan had covered himself in thick layers of clothing so as to hide his identity; his plan was to enter the world beyond the Land of Demons, learn Ninja Arts, and then find Jellal. By disguising himself, his brother would never learn that he was in the real world; it would be easier to find him. Without argument, Mystogan's father simply gave him a staff, saying it was his personal weapon and that one day Mystogan would learn how to use it just as well as he did. Holding the memento of his father tightly, Mystogan nodded beneath his bandana and mask, and then turned his back on his parents and walked towards the village gates. As his cape fluttered in the wind, Mystogan stepped out of Minas Morgal, and began his own adventure into the real world.

A World Shrouded in Mist

As Mystogan wandered aimlessly throughout the world, he found many small villages with friendly people who would take in this stranger. He would always leave in the early hours of the morning, as he never came across a village which displayed members who had proficient skill in Ninja Arts of any kind, which upset him. If Mystogan could not learn any techniques, then he could never seek out and kill his brother for what he had done. The pressure was getting to him, and things got worse when he found himself at the edge of land, facing an ocean. As he stared out across the water, not having learned anything since he left, Mystogan fell to his knees and shouted in rage. He then heard a sound and turned around with his staff ready to strike, hitting a man in the side as he lunged towards Mystogan, holding a kunai. Standing up and getting into a fighting stance, the man also straightened, a sadistic smirk on his face. The man then went in for another attack, and Mystogan barely stepped out of the way. Attempting to fight with his father's staff, Mystogan continued to barely stand against this man's attacks, the whole time being unaware of why he was fighting him in the first place. Eventually, the man lunged forwards with his muscular shoulders and shattered Mystogan's staff to splinters. Completely and utterly distracted, staring at two pieces of his father's staff in each of his hands, Mystogan stood helplessly as the man came in for another attack, and then everything went dark.

When Mystogan awoke, there were several people standing around him, all wearing white clothes with white gloves and masks. Blinking slightly, Mystogan tried to sit up before one of the women in the room touched his forehead to push him back on his bed. She then pulled the mask over her mouth down and told him to simply rest, and that his wounds were still recovering. Apparently, Mystogan had been severely injured before shinobi from the village he was currently in appeared and caught the man, who had a small bounty on his head. Those same shinobi then took Mystogan back to their village, where he was now being healed. After hearing that Mystogan was finally in a village which contained shinobi, as his father had called the military strength of his old village, he relaxed himself, closing his eyes and giving into rest. Several days after his injuries were completely healed, he met with a man named Alucard, whom everyone simply called the Water Shadow for some reason. After meeting with the man, who quickly became the obvious leader of the village to Mystogan, he was allowed to reside in the village and to learn the Way of the Shinobi. And on that day, Mystogan amended his bandana with a metal plate consisting of four curved lines; the symbol of his new village, Kirigakure no Sato.

While living in Kirigakure, Mystogan spoke with many people about learning how to fight with the chakra he had studied in Minas Morgul. Many people said good things about a man named Tenzo, and so Mystogan set out into the world to search for the man he had heard so much about. Eventually, he did find Tenzo; a man who traveled with a large following of students, teaching them everything that he could, despite their numbers. Feeling discouraged that he would simply add to the man's already-large load, Mystogan turned to leave before the man saw him, and called him over. Mystogan was then added to Tenzo's students, and he followed the man wherever he went for as long as Tenzo taught him. The teachings of Tenzo-sensei allowed Mystogan to come to a basic understanding of the Lightning an Earth elements, but before Mystogan was able to complete his training in these two elements, something happened to Tenzo. One day, Mystogan's sensei simply disappeared. Everyone who followed Tenzo was shocked, and weren't sure what to do anymore. Just before Mystogan was going to head back to Kirigakure and re-start his search for a sensei, one of Tenzo's former students, a man by the name of Gobi, came to the remainder of the crowd who had followed Tenzo and offered to complete the training of those there. After completing his Earth and Lightning trainings with Gobi, he thanked the man and continued on with his life, wandering the lands in search of people to teach him more techniques, for he was certain that Jellal would be learning as he was. As Mystogan wandered the continent, moving from Land to Land, he found teachers such as Akisha, who taught him how to manipulate fire, and a man with the name of Pineapple (or at least that was what he called himself) who taught him how to manipulate the wind around him.

After learning to manipulate four of the elements, Mystogan returned to visit Kirigakure again before he sought more training, and while within his village he met a man whose name was not known to the general public; he was simply called the Seven-Scaled Boy. The Seven-Scaled Boy had heard of Mystogan, called the Drifter by a few members of the village in reference to how he simply appeared one day, called himself a member of the village, and then went on his way soon after, and after he learned that this man called himself a Kirigakure shinobi, but could not utilize Genjutsu, Seven-Scaled took it upon himself to fix the problem. Mystogan then stayed for a month with the Seven-Scaled Boy in Kirigakure, learning to utilize his chakra to induce illusions upon opponents. The Seven-Scaled Boy taught all but the most powerful illusions to Mystogan, finding it hard to teach the boy when he himself couldn't demonstrate the technique, as every time Mystogan's new sensei attempted to induce a Genjutsu, Mystogan simply said there was a "slight pressure" on his chakra system, and displayed no signs of being under the jutsu's influence. Being unable to demonstrate, the Seven-Scaled Boy did not attempt to teach Mystogan any A-ranked or above illusions, and allowed him to leave the village again for training with what he had managed to learn. After leaving Kirigakure again to seek a sensei, Mystogan found several senseis who taught him only a short while in the usage of water techniques, and because of his unstable sensei situation in the matters of water usage, Mystogan was discouraged to use any of the jutsu he had been taught. With an incomplete knowledge of Suiton and Genjutsu, Mystogan wandered until something amazing happened; he found Tenzo-sensei again!

Not believing his eyes at first, Mystogan cautiously made his way to the man in the middle of a forest. As he moved towards him, he noticed a small gathering beginning, which confirmed that the man before him was real. As he approached, Mystogan fell to one knee and asked to, once again, be Tenzo's student. The man, who called himself by an alias Adachi, allowed Mystogan to learn the basics of non-elemental Ninjutsu under him, and so Mystogan once again became the disciple of Tenzo, whom he refused to call Adachi. After learning what he could in the realm of Ninjutsu from Tenzo, Mystogan left the larger-than-ever crowd, instead of asking him to complete his training in Genjutsu or Water Techniques. Wandering all on his own again, Mystogan came across a man known as Mathias, who took on the challenge of teaching the Nekura boy high-ranked Genjutsu. After weeks of intense training in the area, Mystogan moved on and met a man named Migualon J.J., more commonly known as Mig. Mig agreed to complete Mystogan's training in Water, and after Mystogan had learned his fifth element, he took an off Mig had given him; to follow him around and teach new students as a senpai under him. Wanting to honor the man who impacted his life, Tenzo, Mystogan accepted every student who asked for his training, sometimes even behind Migualon's back, and taught a gathering smaller than Tenzo's, but according to Mig was larger than most senpais'. After a couple months of teaching under the supervision of Migualon J.J., Mystogan's sensei vanished, and with Mig gone, Mystogan's confidence in his teaching ability also left him. After he dismissed all of his students, Mystogan looked up to the sky. The clouds were dark overhead, and they reminded him of home. Taking in a deep breath, Mystogan sighed, and then began his trek towards Kirigakure, where he would collect all of his things he had acquired over the time since he had become a Kirigakure shinobi. Then, with all of his things over his shoulder, Mystogan set off to return to Minas Morgul. It was about time that he completed his training by learning the trademark techniques of his adoptive clan.

The Prodigal Son Returns

As Mystogan was walking through the mountain range within the Land of Demons, he heard a noise. Turning around, he saw a man who was about to assault him. Extending his arm, Mystogan used what he had learned in the last year to attack the man, sending him backwards. Then a portal opened above his head, and a black substance flowed out of the portal. When the man saw that Mystogan was unaffected by the jutsu, he simply smirked and welcomed the masked man. Instead of returning the warm sentiment, Mystogan knocked him unconscious with a stone pillar. Then, he continued on his way into the village. When he arrived at Minas Morgul, Mystogan found the village fairly empty. He didn't keep track of time very well, and so Mystogan wondered how long he had been gone for; what could have happened in the time he was gone to make everyone leave. To ensure that he was alone, Mystogan called "I am here! Come out, clan elders, and see how the ninja who left years ago has grown!" He soon learned that he was not alone, nor had it been years since he left. It had been but one year, a few days less even, for his parents came out to greet him, saying they were glad that the day he returned happened to be his birthday.

After spending the day feasting, Mystogan asked one of the Councilmen, Akuma, to teach him the way of the Nekura. In his reasoning, now that Mystogan was eighteen, he should be allowed to learn to the full extent of his abilities. Akuma agreed, and became Mystogan's personal sensei while he was in Minas Morgul. As Akuma taught Mystogan how to manipulate Keigoku, he mocked him for joining a village as he saw the Kirigakure headband. When Mystogan questioned Akuma's mocking, he claimed it was all in fun; at one point Akuma had been a part of a village, but now he had joined an organization known as the Akatsuki. Being part of an organization, rather than a village, allowed him to live in Minas Morgul, which is what Mystogan was being teased about; not being able to live with his family. When he family was brought up, Mystogan simply answered that as long as his brother was alive, Mystogan couldn't leave the main continent. The rest of the training didn't have much idle chit-chat, as Mystogan's personality became darker and more warped with the more he manipulated Keigoku. There were times where he was capable of maintaining his humanity, not wanting to harm a fox for the purpose of growing, but the more he used Keigoku, the more Mystogan fell into the dark side of his psyche. After mastering the usage of Keigoku to the level of a Black Knight, the elite warriors of the Nekura clan, Akuma offered to teach Mystogan techniques of his ancestors, jutsu his father, and grandfather, and so on would have used. Feeling great pride in his heritage, Mystogan agreed and stayed to train in the art of Rain-based Techniques. Finally, before leaving for good for his home in Kirigakure once more, Mystogan was taught the fine art of hand-to-hand combat by Akuma, allowing him to become a well-rounded shinobi in terms of prowess with chakra and physical fighting, should he ever need it.

Bidding farewell to his home, Mystogan was about to step out the gates of Minas Morgul when a hand landed softly on his shoulder. Turning around, Mystogan saw his father, who had a soft smile on his face. After asking what happened to the staff, Mystogan explained how it broke, and that's how he found Kirigakure. Before he could apologize for losing the weapon his father used, Mystogan's father removed his bandana and mask to look at his son's face once more. Then he handed his son a small bundle wrapped in black cloth and turned away, walking back towards where their home was near the outskirts of the village. As Mystogan's father walked away, he unwrapped the bundle to find five brand new staffs, each one different from the last in design. A soft smile came across his face looking at them, but before Mystogan could look up to thank his father, he was already out of sight. Using the cloth which held the staffs together, Mystogan fashioned a sort of carrying bag for the five staffs, and then replaced the mask and bandana on his face. Turning away from Minas Morgul once again, Mystogan left the village, headed back for Kirigakure, unaware of the events which were to come.

When the World Fell to Pieces

As Mystogan returned to Kirigakure, he was greeted by a great deal of shinobi he had known before, but there was one in particular who stood out to him. A girl, only a few years younger than himself, who was not a Kirigakure shinobi when he left the village last. After asking about her, Mystogan approached Karla himself and asked to get to know her better the only way he cared to interact with anyone; sparring. She accepted, and when they met near the short of Kirigakure, the young woman tried to talk to Mystogan, tried to get to know who he was, instead of fight as Mystogan had anticipated. While unexpected, Mystogan found that, for some reason, he appreciated the interaction. At the end of the encounter, Mystogan found that he liked the girl; she was someone, probably the first person in fact, that he could call a friend. To show her how he felt about being true friends, Mystogan entrusted one of his father's staffs to her, as he knew that he would soon go out on a mission. When he returned, she would give the staff back to him. Giving her the staff was a sign that he was certain he would return. After the spar, Mystogan returned to his house for the night, and then got up early in the morning to leave on his mission.

Meeting with his partners, men who called themselves Reborn and Negative Knight, respectively, the three of them set out to the Land of Lightning to meet someone special. When they arrived, members of Kumogakure came out to "greet" them, as was the plan. The man Negative Knight stayed to provoke the Cloud shinobi while Mystogan and Reborn left for the Land of Frost, where Reborn met the man he was to meet; another member of the group Akatsuki who had challenged Reborn for a special sword which he possessed. As Mystogan waited out the fight, what else could happen other than the Hidden Leaf Village showing up in the Land of Lightning. And not only were there a few shinobi who came, it was a majority of the village, in addition to their leader, the Fire Shadow or Hokage. Interested, Mystogan left his friend with another shinobi who came later to the Land of Frost, knowing that he would be fine on his own, and walked towards where the Konohagakure shinobi were gathered. When he arrived, a large amount of ice collapsed, and standing across the crater which was created was a man who, as identified by the sensory-type summoning with Mystogan, possessed a large chakra reserve; the man most likely to be Hokage. Challenging him to a fight, Mystogan prepared to use some of the powerful Keigoku techniques he learned with Akuma, before the man vanished. It was unexplainable as to what exactly happened, but all that could be told was that Mystogan's opponent was no longer anywhere near them. Taking it as a sign, Mystogan packed up his three staffs, having left one with Karla and another with the man waiting with Reborn, called Tosen, and headed to the now-abandoned Konohagakure, as all of their villagers were fighting in the borderlands of Kumogakure.

Upon arriving at Konohagakure, Mystogan found the squad of men, aliases Kansas Bred, Rain of Hell, and KeotsuEclipse, who was the current Mizukage in disguise. He then went with them to Sunagakure, whom he learned had been at war with Kirigakure while he was away. When they arrived, Mystogan advanced to the walls of the village with the sensory summon, where he was confronted by three enemy shinobi. After fighting the men, Mystogan continued on through the village after burying them, not a single scratch found on his body. Upon his arrival at the empty Kazekage mansion, Mystogan used a technique to project his image into the sky and gave a short speech. Then, after his speech to Sunagakure was over, he left the village to return to Kirigakure. Deep within his heart, Mystogan had been waiting to see his friend Karla since he left the village.

The Nekura Initiative

When Mystogan returned to Kirigakure, he walked into his home where his two staffs were waiting for him. He had expected Tosen, whom he had no prior connection to, to leave his staff where it would be found, but the one he had entrusted to Karla, the skull-headed staff, he had expected it to be waiting for him with his friend. When Mystogan went to inquire someone about Karla, he was given some bad news. Apparently, while Mystogan was away Kumogakure had attacked Kirigakure in retaliation to Negative Knight's killing spree. During the Cloud's attack on Kirigakure, a shinobi of Kumogakure had fought and killed Mystogan's only friend Karla. Filled with sorrow and rage, Mystogan was getting ready to wage a full-out war on Kumogakure, all on his own if he had to, when something about the staff given to Tosen, a fellow Nekura, caught his eye. Something was inscribed on the edge of the curved shape of his staff. Noting the message, Mystogan bottled up his rage and made his way back to Minas Morgul. Only a single word was on the staff, but Mystogan understood the entire message. The Nekura were gathering, and he was instructed to "come".

When Mystogan arrived at Minas Morgul, he walked straight into the grand hall where the head of the clan held meetings. There were already a few members present, but most of the clan were still becoming mobile. As Mystogan was about to take his seat, leaving room for the Clan Council to sit next to the end of the table where the Clan Head resided, a familiar face stepped out of an adjoining room. Akuma then sat in the spot of the Clan Head, and gestured for Mystogan to sit in the seat which would have been his own were he not promoted within the clan. Nodding silently, Mystogan moved one chair over and removed his cloak, donning the red-symbol-embedded cloak of the Clan Council. He then sat down and stared into the distance as his cloak, boasting the royal blue emblem of the Black Knights, was given to a member of the clan Mystogan had met on occasion outside of Minas Morgul; he may not have known the man who was promoted well, only knowing him as "The Professor", but Mystogan still approved him as the next-in-line for his Black Knight robe. As more and more Nekura filed in, Akuma began with their plans. After speaking them, he dispatched a squadron of men to Amegakure to capture the Seven-Tailed host and return him to the Land of Demons. Though the full intent of the plan was not fully understood by anyone other than Akuma, Mystogan continued to stare into the distance and contemplate what was happening. He knew that the negative emotions he felt, the rage towards his brother, the man who broke his father's staff, and the one who killed Karla, not to mention his loathing of all of Amegakure for shunning his family and Kumogakure for hiding the villain who killed his friend, were amplified while using Keigoku, but at the same time Mystogan chose to believe that his negative emotions empowered his Keigoku as well, allowing him to tap into some primordial strength. As Mystogan contemplated his emotions, how to best use them, and when the best time to move out would be, a small smirk appeared under his mask. With such an uproar in the world, he could be sure to find his brother soon enough.

Birth of the Yondaime

The fruits of the meeting in Minas Morgul were few; the Seven-Tailed host was never retrieved, nor did those dispatched return to the Land of Demons. Being dismissed by Akuma himself, Mystogan simply returned to Kirigakure, where he was living. Upon arrival, Mystogan discovered that the Sandaime Mizukage, KeotsuEclipse, had resigned from the position of Mizukage. Though Mystogan couldn't fully understand the reasoning, he was told that the Sandaime's entire life's work had been ruined, and that he left the village to train. Unsure of how to react to the news, Mystogan had little time to think on what had happened. Kirigakure's War General had opened a very democratic voting session to determine the new Mizukage - the Yondaime.

Though Mystogan had been loyal to the village through the previous three Mizukages, and longed to be the leader of a village himself, he did not feel it was time. However, other members of the village appeared to look up to him, as his name appeared in the voting list, among two others. Unsure of whether it was his time to become the Mizukage or not, Mystogan knew that if he was chosen he would have to lead as he saw fit. And so the voting went on, and after a few days of deliberation, a nearly-unanimous vote came through. The Fourth Mizukage was none other than the resident Nekura Councilman, wielder of five staffs.

It was a transition, but Mystogan didn't see it as too much of a challenge. Kirigakure was fairly self-governing anyhow, with the Mizukage being more of a figurehead than anything. Even with the thought that his having the title of Mizukage was almost trivial, Mystogan still felt the pressure of a leader. The villagers wanted many things from him - a number of systems that had been tried before and failed, random war with various villages, the installment of new shinobi to already-filled positions on the grounds that the job isn't being done "satisfactorily", among other things - and Mystogan didn't see it in the best interest of the village to do so. The conflict of interest between Mystogan and the general villagers of Kirigakure grew larger and larger as time waned on, and suggestions Mystogan disagreed with rolled in. The divide grew to such an extreme that the self-appointed War General, taking over from the one who began to voting prior to Mystogan's reign as Mizukage, hatched a plan to revive the village anew. To create a Kirigakure without the Nekura Councilman.

End of an Era

The day had finally come. It was a day like most others - calm, gentle breeze, mist relatively thin - though the plan of the new War General was to be put in place. It was a simple plan; as Mystogan was walking along the outskirts of the village, just outside of the village walls, he was met by a man threaded together and kept alive by Kinjutsu. Kakuzu, a man Mystogan got along with prior to his Mizukageship, was the "weapon of choice" used by the War General. Kakuzu had one job; fight Mystogan to both begin and complete the Coup d'état.

Earlier in the year, at the same time as Mystogan's mission with Reborn and Negative Knight, one of Kirigakure's finest had left the village. Liliana Uchiha, possessor of the Mangekyō Sharingan, had defected from the village to take over the Akatsuki. Though the lady, who had been a member of Kirigakure from the very beginning at the start of the Shodaime's reign, was gone from the village upon Mystogan's return, she eventually relocated the rogue group to Kirigakure no Shima, the main island housing Kirigakure no Sato. Even though she left the village that she had been loyal to for so long, Liliana couldn't stay away too long. At least not then.

As the Akatsuki was recruiting new, powerful members, the man named Kakuzu, codenamed Negative Knight during his mission with Mystogan, was selected to join the ranks. After he became a member of Akatsuki, Mystogan saw the man less, and he rarely saw him at all after he himself became Mizukage. Needless to say, Mystogan's assassin had changed quite a bit by the time of the coup. They had been apart so long that the threaded monster had no problem being the one to fight the Nekura. Kakuzu was also one of the men running against Mystogan in the election, so naturally he would look at the flaws in Mystogan's leadership - it's human nature. If Kakuzu was even a human anymore after the multitude of stitching up his body and others' hearts.

But when the battle started, Mask versus Mask, Threads versus Keigoku, Akatsuki versus Kirigakure, it was intense from the beginning. Mystogan didn't want to lose; loss mean death, but it also meant that he would die as the Mizukage no one loved, without a chance to even attempt to redeem himself. As if he could - the entire village had been turned against him at this point. There was no way around it, for even if he had won he would be lord over those who despised his methods, if they didn't all leave. Mystogan was in a bad situation from the beginning, and though he fought valiantly, the burning thought that the village was against him distracted him in the fight and lead to his death. As Mystogan lay in the mud, rain falling over his body as his life passed him by, flowing through the several holes pierced in his body by Kakuzu, he had only a single thought on his mind. "I am sorry I failed you... Kirigakure." Mystogan then passed with a smile on his face, having said his good-bye to the only one who cared to hear it.

Revival

After Mystogan was killed in battle, he was buried within Kirigakure, his grave on a small "island" surrounded by water with his staffs laid over it. Mystogan remained dead for six months before he was granted his second chance, which came by much more ironically than one would guess.

After Mystogan's death, Akuma disappeared, and so the title of Head of the Nekura Clan fell to Mystogan's personal disciple, Susano'o, a member of the clan who called himself a "Priest of the Juubi" whom Mystogan had traveled back and forth between Kirigakure and Minas Morgul to teach and train. Susano'o, after being bestowed the honor, traveled to Kirigakure to see his masters grave, and then met a man who had been from Kirigakure at one point. The man, serpentine in nature, had actually been an acquaintance of Mystogan at one point, residing in Kirigakure on a deal made between the two, leaving after the man's death. After a short discussion, Kabuto agreed to help Susano'o kill Mystogan's assassin, Kakuzu, on the term that Kabuto would have preparation time. Which lead him to the Dawn Tavern.

Taking what he had heard from rumors, Kabuto went to the Dawn Tavern seeking out the Akatsuki, who had relocated after Mystogan's death, robbing Kakuzu of the potential to take Mystogan's place. Meeting with the current leader, disguised Kirigakure's own Liliana Uchiha, Kabuto gained a ring, the symbol of Akatsuki, and a place among the rogues. He then met with members of the organization, and sparked something incredible for the deceased Mystogan. As part of Kabuto's preparation time, he met with one of the members of the Akatsuki, , to make a deal with him. Knowing that this man had the power to resurrect the dead, Kabuto offered the man the location of the Yondaime Mizukage, and even to go retrieve the required DNA for Hei, so that the man could resurrect the Nekura for Kabuto's research purposes. Perhaps there was something in a Nekura's biochemistry Kabuto could use to expand his knowledge and abilities. Of course, as part of the deal, once Kabuto was finished researching, Hei could keep the revived body for his own purposes. After a bit of convincing, Hei agreed to the terms, and after a few days, Kabuto returned from Kirigakure with the entire corpse of the previous Mizukage. Refusing to answer how it was done, Kabuto waited for Hei to revive the man, using a random patron from the Dawn Tavern as a sacrifice. And it was then that Mystogan was granted his second chance.

As a revived body via the Edo Tensei technique, Mystogan was given no restriction seal; Kabuto was confident in his ability to restrain and research the man on his own. The sensation was strange for the Nekura - it was as if he blinked, and the scenery around him transformed from the gloomy, muddy terrain of his fight with Kakuzu, into the cold room where Akatsuki members looked down at him. Mystogan was immediately restrained, his hands behind the first things to be held down so that he could not form handseals, and then experimented on. No matter how many times the made snake-man cut Mystogan, ripped organs out, or otherwise dismembered him, Mystogan felt no pain, and the injury was always healed almost immediately. It was a strange sensation to watch his body be ripped apart, yet feel nothing - it was surreal, as if he was experiencing a dream. Mystogan had heard, once, that the brain continued to function after death. Perhaps this was merely his brain continuing to function, creating the final dream he would ever see. After days of experiments, Kabuto finally handed the former Mizukage over to Hei, having learned nothing about the clan.

When Mystogan was returned to Hei, like a scalpel returned to a tray, the Uzumaki clan member was about to seal the man away into a coffin, storing him for later, before Mystogan called out to him. He made a request, and a fairly reasonable one at that: to return to Kirigakure to retrieve his five staffs. The Uzumaki contemplated the proposal for a moment, and came to the conclusion that the newest addition to his collection of revived bodies was best used "complete", and that it would be beneficial for the man to have his staffs. So Hei sent Mystogan to Kirigakure with an escort, as Hei himself was busy in the land of Ancrath, where the Dawn Tavern was located. So Mystogan went to the Land of Water with Hei's associate: a man who resembled the great , a wielder of the Rinnegan.

As Mystogan approached the borders of the village, Nagato warned him about straying from the plan. Without breaking his stride or acknowledging the words, Mystogan continued forwards into the village as Nagato made his way to the top of the wall around Kirigakure. Mystogan literally walked through the village, causing villagers to wonder at the presence of the deceased Yondaime Mizukage, and a few to even attack him, believing he was an intruder. Taking all the attacks without pain, Mystogan fought back without regard for chakra or recoil from the techniques he used, leveling buildings as he made his way towards his own grave. Taking his five staffs, Mystogan looked about the village. He had heard, once, that Nagato was an advocate of inspiring peace through pain, to ensure that no one would fight back after tasting pain. The idea appealed to his somewhat-undead body, and as such he planned to make his escort proud.

Mystogan began to attack the village, avoiding villagers he knew from his life and instead attacking their family members, killing off non-shinobi members of the village to inspire pain to those who rose against him in the Coup. They would all know pain. As Nagato watched the scene from above, he disagreed with Mystogan's actions, not knowing his background or mentality for fighting. To stop the rampage of the immortal Nekura, Nagato revived him with his Rinne Tensei, and went out to meet him. With Kirigakure shinobi surrounding the dangerous pair, Nagato brought fourth a black chakra rod, threatening to attack Mystogan if he continued to act. Looking around at the shinobi who surrounded the two of them, Mystogan filled his body with Keigoku, to the point where he himself became Keigoku, and left the area with the secret techniques of his clan, leaving Nagato to exit the village on his own.

Clouds That Bleed for my Pain

Transporting himself to Minas Morgul, Mystogan took some time to himself to relax, though he didn't have long before he was recognized. Swarms of people surrounded the supposedly-dead Councilman, but the one man who pushed his way through the crowd to meet Mystogan was the dark-skinned, white-haired Susano'o Nekura. Speechless before his master, Susano'o fell to his knees, offering his special blade to his master as a sign of gratitude that he was still alive. Mystogan gestured for his student to get up, and he did so, grateful to be reunited with Mystogan after so many months.

Mystogan had dinner with his student, where they discussed many things, mostly relating to Mystogan's death. Of the topics of conversation, Mystogan realized that while twenty years had passed since he was born, he had only been alive for nineteen fiscal years, which raised a question about his age. However, the most important aspect of the dinner was Susano'o's gifting of his cloak to Mystogan. Examining the robe, Mystogan noticed the deep purple emblem; the symbol of the Clan Head. Susano'o insisted that Mystogan have the title, giving up his status as a shinobi of the Nekura to be a priest in Minas Morgul once more so Mystogan could lead the clan. Mystogan accepted the gift, but declined Susano'o's offer to stay the night. His student had gained the respect of enough members of the Nekura clan that they made him the head; there was nothing left for Mystogan to teach him, and therefore no reason to stay. There was someone he had to find.

Traveling night and day from the Land of Demons to the Land of Ancrath, Mystogan found himself in the Dawn Tavern. Feeling vibrations through the ground with one of his techniques, Mystogan found the secret room hidden beneath the tavern and broke in, locating the serpentine man quickly and cornering him. As much as Mystogan wanted to kill Kabuto for the experiments performed on him, neither did they hurt, nor would he be alive without Kabuto having him revived for that purpose. At a dilemma on how to proceed, Kabuto did what he did best; made a deal. Kabuto would teach Mystogan a staff-related art in exchange for Mystogan forgetting about the experiments and his grudge against the man. Reluctantly agreeing, Mystogan stayed in the secret room of the Dawn Tavern to learn the Nine Verses of Shakujo, and by the end of the teachings he stayed with the Akatsuki. After demonstrating his strength, which grew considerably since his death as new, more intense emotions derived from the fact that he had been killed now fueled his Keigoku, Mystogan was able to earn a place as a member of the organization.

Staffs

All his life, Mystogan has used wooden staffs as his main weapon in battle. In his possession are four basic staffs and a Shakujo:
  • His first staff is a long staff like the others and it has two curvy circles and on top of them is a skull with horns. On the back of the skull-headed staff are three spikes, each positioned above an exposed portion of thin scroll. The purpose of this is to allow Mystogan to summon something be dragging his thumb down the spike and onto the exposed scroll after forming the handseals. The leftmost scroll is the Snake summoning scroll, while the rightmost is for summoning Condors. The scroll in the middle may be adjusted with several kanji written on it. Depending on which kanji is exposed for the summoning, the center scroll allows Mystogan to summon ninja tools for weapon-based Ninjutsu technique.
  • His second staff is a staff with its head being round with a large red and yellow eye. Everything within the circular head of the eye-headed staff is comprised of the same material used for sunglasses, allowing Mystogan to see through the back of the eye while light becomes reflected off of the front of the eye. This allows wielders of the staff to combat techniques which are meant to blind opponents.
  • His third and primary staff is a fan-headed staff, which allows Mystogan to use any fan-required jutsu through it.
  • His fourth staff is a staff with its head being a three-spiked fork. The center prong of this fork is actually a hidden sword, with the handle being the top of the prong with the rest being a cleverly disguised sheath. He calls it his trident staff.
  • His fifth and final staff is actually a Shakujo. The Shakujo replaced his old staff which resembled the number "3" after Mystogan learned the arts of Shakujo no Kyū-Setsu. It sits on his back like the old one did, and he can utilize it just as efficiently as any of his other staffs.
In addition to holding his staffs as if they almost didn't exist, Mystogan also can quickly and effectively reach behind him, place a staff within a very precise holder on his back, and take out another staff in one simple, quick, fluent motion which takes no more than a second overall.
Genjutsu

Mystogan is well-known for his abilities in Genjutsu. Even when he was unable to be shown the proper effect a Genjutsu should create while training with his senseis, Mystogan was able to listen to what should happen when using it. His skill and training in Genjutsu has allowed Mystogan to be able to perform any Genjutsu with a single handseal. A part of the reason for his natural talent with Genjutsu is Mystogan's naturally high intellect. While in the midst of a fight, Mystogan can stop to analyze his current predicament, and make an educated strategy for how to proceed. However, when Mystogan uses large amounts of Keigoku, his emotions cloud his logical thinking and take away, to a degree, his analytical ability.
Keigoku

Being born into Minas Morgul and the Nekura clan, Mystogan has an innate ability to call upon and manipulate the foul chakra of the Juubi. When he was born, Mystogan had the clan’s tattoo, the Mark of the Demon, over his right eye, displaying him as a member of the clan and a user of Keigoku. His portals mainly take the shape of multi-colored circles with symbols around the edge (unless otherwise stated in the jutsu description). After training with Akuma, Mystogan was bestowed the honor of being a member of the Clan Council, bringing both great honor and power to himself. He was later bestowed the title of Clan Head by his student, bringing immensely more pride to himself.

The cape Mystogan wears is actually a memento of his clan; a cloak symbolizing his status in the clan and his training in their techniques. Originally gifted to him while training with Akuma, Mystogan's current cloak was gifted to him by his student, Susano'o, who received it himself from the clan elders. The cloak is made of a mysterious, firm substance which flows and is manipulated like normal cloth, but is dense and strong enough to defend against freeform weapons and taijutsu. On the back of the cloak is a symmetrical crowned eye, the symbol of the Nekura clan, dyed deep purple to signify his top rank within the clan.
Silent Killing

Having prepared for his life as a ninja since a young age, Mystogan honed his skills in moving quickly and silently. After leaving Minas Morgul, Mystogan found himself in the heart of Kirigakure after getting knocked unconscious. While living in the Hidden Mist Village, Mystogan was able to use his skills for navigating through the ever-present storms of Minas Morgul to aid his navigation in the thick mist of the dark of night, and even the day. By combining his natural skills for navigating in areas where his vision is compromised, and the way he honed this skill while living in Kirigakure, with his self-trained ability to move silently, even while carrying a staff with rings on the end which "clink" together when an average person is moving, Mystogan has become very adept at blocking out a person's vision, and then killing his opponent while they're blinded, even if the blinding method affect's Mysogan as well, such as when Mist jutsu are used.
Though Mystogan left the Hidden Mist Village after his resurrection, he was still somewhat partial to mist-related techniques. Despite his lessened ability to navigate the mist since his defection, Mystogan maintained his ability to move silently, allowing him to remain a fairly effective assassin with his being partial to mist jutsu.
Nature Transformation

Mystogan has an affinity towards the Wind Release chakra nature, allowing him to utilize the Wind Nature efficiently. Because of his extended usage of Wind Release, Mystogan's muscles have grown accustomed to how to move to form the handseals for each of the techniques, allowing him to weave the handseals faster. Mystogan's other primary Elemental Affinity is towards Rain Release, which he inherited from his father. The ability to manipulate the rain, derived from Mystogan's abilities in Wind and Water Release, granted Mystogan great versatility in battle, and helped him defeat three opponents at once in Sunagakure.

~Approved~ I'm not very keen on the whole dying and reviving thing, but I will let it slide considering it's not entirely impossible.
