I really like his character.
Someone brought up in a clan that put sole faith in power. Had his clan decimated by the person he loved most, and told that letting your hate fester was the only way to receive power to achieve justice for his dead parents. Him sacrificing his own happiness for the sake of achieving justice fallen family.

After achieving justice he realized that his brother was only trying to protect him out of love and his brother was a victim too so his rage gets even deeper and he takes out his anger on those responsible. He becomes consumed with rage losing track of his former self completely and the only thing that brought him back to his senses was the truth and love from his dead brother. Itachi told Sasuke that the decision that he made was for the village not just for Sasuke. That he had loyalty to the village even after them forcing him to go through what he did. This confused Sasuke and made Sasuke weary of his own ignorance so he sought out the truth.

After Sasuke learned the truth and was finally able to sympathize with his brother he decided to protect the village, but fell into the flawed mindset of his clan which is to trust solely on ones own abilities and as a result Sasuke believed that he could use power to lead.

That sums up most of Sasuke's character. IMO his character is one of the best in Naruto when it comes to development, I dislike some of his choices, but I can't really hate his character because I really do think that I might have done some of the same things.

If anyone hates him though then to each his own
