Compare it to now: A friendly fox inside of him, he fodderizes virtually everyone except perhaps Kaguya and Hagoromo, everyone loves him and thinks of him as a hero

Naruto used to be a lot funnier too.

Part 2 has FAR worse plot shield than anything in Part 1. Part 1 at least had a strong core message, actually had tension, used smart fights that revolved around strategy not power ups, when there were power ups they actually felt impressive [as opposed to Part 2 power ups which at this point are rather annoying and often defy the logic of the manga], and the story was simplistic [in a good way].

Actually they still have them, if they were temp they would have lost them by now.

OT: I consider part 2 better, while I enjoyed part 1 the only thing that part 1 has over part 2 in my eyes is that the story arcs weren't just focused on one or two villains at a time.

We had groups of villains for the heroes to fight, while in part 2 we have arcs with about 2 big villains at the most.
