Gladiator extended edition or normal?

Bored and thinking of watching Gladiator since i've never watched it before and heard it was great movie.

I'm about to download it, but what's better for first time watching: the extended edition or the normal edition?

Or does it not matter? Sometimes the extended editions of movies drag out scenes and make them boring but sometimes they add interesting or cool scenes.

You mean the movie? I never got around to watching it before and i've heard it is a classic. I think it won best picture at the oscars too in 2000.
