See she gets it. +repNo, that doesn't qualify. By that logic, everytime a new tech is introduced, it's an asspull. That makes no sense. Itachi having those techs didn't defy logic. He's one of the most secretive shinobi in this series, he was bound to have a few trump cards and when he revealed them, the majority of the fandom wasn't surprised. Having trump cards and saving your most powerful techs is called being smart, not defying plot.
An asspull/plothole is more along the lines of breaking pre-established rules. Like, Kakashi copying susano'o, when it's stated in pt1 that one needs the kekkai genkai/bloodline to copy anything, something he lacks due to not being an Uchiha. (No hate on Kakashi, he's still cool. U_U )
Sure it was, it was clearly explained that Itachi got them from somewhere before Orochimaru did. He didn't go in depth to keep the mystery, yet another example of the perfect story telling he accomplished with Itachi. An asspull would be for example Kakashi using PS after having the eyes for all of 2 seconds. See the difference?
Itachi is nothing but a stepping stool for Sasuke's development and for Sasuke's story in the plot..Itachi is indeed a plot device...just a tool for Sasuke.
it wasn't clearly explained at all. it was just. oh hay I have a giant skeleton deity protecting me with magical weapons I found on a rainbow =_=

So is Sasuke dead or something? Because that's the only way Itachi could ever be irrelevant.Basically, but then there are he maniacs (his fanbase) that think he's still relevant to the plot.

Isn't every character a device to further the plot? Otherwise there would be none right? And no his weapons are not asspulls.
Why did Kakashi have to be brought into this? Would you prefer if Kakashi used PS and didn't explain it for mysterious reasons?

Actually, his fanbase talks less frequently about him than you haters. He gets 4-5 hating threads a day which ironically gives description of his worth and a secret frustration of haters knowing that worth.

He gets 4-5 hate threads a day because he gets 5-6 "OMG MAD TOTSUKA HAXX" threads per day. Most people that hate his character hate him because people refuse to shut up about an extremely irrelevant character, while comparing him to the most powerful characters in the series.
