Ok, so Kushina got captured by Kumo Ninja's when she was a kid. Only Minato went out to find her, and only found her because she was leaving a trail of red hair. If her hair had been brown, it would have been almost impossible to detect in the forest the kumo ninja where taking her through. Certainly minato wouldn't have been able to find her.

Probably because the seal separated the chakra completely. Everyone's chakra was extracted, so were the bijuu and what was left was the empty shell (Mazo) and Madara. Obito probably still had chakra left after the extraction because it was done manually.
