He must serve some type of purpose since Hagoromo chose to bring him back to the real world along with Team 7 and the Tailed Beasts. Let's be honest for a moment:

-After all that went down, I highly doubt that Madara will start shit again. He can't take Naruto, Sasukem Kakashi, Hagoromo, the Kages. I am sure Hagoromo will tell him everything that's been happening.

-At the end of the day, Madara will probably be TNJ by Naruto, Hago and Hashi.

-I am sure that Madara will probably use Rinnei Tensei to revive all who have died during the war (except Obito).

That's why I think he was brought back... he can't do anything else and I can't see him living out the rest of his days happily ever after.

OT: Madara is probably needed to end the effects of Infinite Tsukuyomi. And, of course, in order to do that he is gong to need to be convinced....

Wrong, wrong and wrong. None of these people are tnj'ing Madara, Sasuke is. The justu hashi gave him to deal with Madara wasn't for nothing, nor was Hashi's speech about how Sasuke is similar to Izuna and how he believes Sasuke could stop him "without using force" aka talk no jutsu.

Right on l! This completely slipped my mind. Naruto and Hashi might still try to TNJ Maddy but to no luck. Since Sasuke remind Hashi of Izuna, the same may go for Madara. So yeah Sasuke stands the best chance of a successful TnJ. Good recollection

As far as Naruto well as far as this war goes yeah. It's time for him to take a backseat and let Sasuke handle Madara which I though was going to happen before all this Kaguya Black Zetsu mess.
