Sage of six paths created Ninjutsu and taught it to his sons, its clear he is some way responsible for everything happening because if he never taught it to his sons none of this would have happened, Madara would have never unlocked Rinnegan, therefore Kaguya wouldnt have come back, also wars wouldnt have happened as much either.

I wouldnt be surprised if he was next villain after Kaguya, hes up to something right now

IMO its like hashirama. While they both can be blamed, they aren't evil. So6p's original intent was to help people connect and give them a way to protect themselves
