What variants? Bigger rasengan? That was actually Jiraiya, a flashback was shown of Jiraiya telling Naruto that he had to make it bigger and stronger (the first time Naruto used cho rasengan, against Itachi's 30 percent clone). The other varients are Naruto adding various elements into rasengan, that, let me repeat, was Minatols idea to add a nature element to rasengan.

No, you're wrong. Sasuke, Itachi and every other Genius was told what to do respectively, except for Minato or anyone else who invented some technique specifically. Kakashi, just like Jiraiya told him what they all tried. The rest he had to FIGURE OUT HIMSELF, as Kakashi explicitly said. That's why Naruto came up with the technique, no one else did. I can compare the two. Minato came up and invented Rasengan out of nothing, but he couldn't advance it. Naruto took it to another level by having the ability to do so, unlike Kakashi, Jiraiya or Minato.

Again, you're not labeled Genius only because you have the ability to invent something. If it was like that, only Minato and Neji would be ones. And that's ridiculous.

Also, Sasuke invented Kirin and reverse engineered evil releasing method to revive Orochimaru. Minato didn't fail to advance rasengan, he simply died prematurely. Naruto is a genius, I admit that, but he certainly is not at the same level of genius as those guys until he can do something with his own brain power and creativity.

I would consider Gai and Lee to be the true geniuses. You probably haven't been reading this manga where the Kyubi has been helping Naruto his whole life when he is stuck in many tight situations.

Many instances where Naruto got a free cookie from his outside source of power. Now he has 8 other tailed beast helping him. You want to talk about his quick progression? Isn't he the MC of the series and even has the series named after him? Do you honestly believe that Kishi will not make Naruto learn his abilities in a short amount of time. This is the theme of all shounen MC. Take a look at Ichigo and Goku. They learn fast and get stronger by the minute, but the thing is that most of them are already born with insane genes to begin with. Lee and Gai don't have insane chakra pools or many Bijuu to help them fight. Lee and Gai don't rely on powerful eyes and blessed heritage from different clans.

Naruto's feats only prove that he is a hardworker, but that does not make him a genius. Anyone can work hard and Naruto has a lot of "help" getting him this far. Lee and Gai had shit and look at what they could manage. Gai was practically owning Madara with just brute Taijutsu alone. That is a true genius.

No, not the same level, just different. Kakashi said that adding nature to Rasengan was to hard for him and Minato, not that he didn't have time. His creativity is off the charts in battles, plus, his creativity provided him with the way to learn his Rasengan and make FRS.

And you haven't grasped that you have to be in some way unique in order to house the Kyuubi, not to mention using his power by free will.

So because he's the main character, we should deny him a sheer etiquette of being able to pull Genius stuff? Now that doesn't sound fair or objective reading.

Hard worker? Do I need to remind you that he learned Rasengan in 7 days? Mastered Senjutsu to the point of perfection in a matter of days. Not to mention creating his own technique in a matter of hours? Let's be reasonable here.

Gai had a hidden potential of a Genius, which allowed him to open the 8 gates, as I've said before. Naruto has that hidden potential too. It's unlocked by the right state of mind. Naruto, Gai and Rock Lee were at some point in their life ridiculed and because of that, they lacked the basic self-confidence in their abilities. When that ship sailed, they proved to be beasts.
