I'd need to see some fairly impressive speed feats from Tobirama to say he could win this. Gaara being a ranged fighter with sand capable of enduring Susano'os attacks, able to produce a ludicrous amount of it and even seal Edo Tensei gives him far too much an edge in this match up for me to consider Tobirama the victor.

I suppose that if Tobirama managed to mark or FTG one of the Edo clones and then explode them near Gaara, it would be useful. I just don't really see Tobirama being able to do such a thing when literally the entire environment is turned into Gaara's play pen.

Why do we need feats when we can go by Madara's statement. He was the fastest ninja in his era. And that goes by the first shinobi war too. We can at least conclude that his speed is inbetween 3rd Raikage, (most likely between 3rd Raikage and his son, Ay) Ay, and Minato. That alone gives that conclusion that Gaara sand will have problems keeping up with his speed, considering Mizkage's clone speed gave him problems. AND it was on Gaara's play-field.

Because a statement itself doesn't have to be true. There's not much to say that Madara fought or witnessed the Third Raikage, nor specifically what era he was referring to. It could of been that of the era prior to the Villages.

I'd rather go off of material we have seen in the manga versus the comments characters make. Especially in versus threads.

Of course it would be true, if someone superior them him is admitting inferior in one category via Speed. So if we go by his superior's speed we can conclude Tobirama moves faster then that. Yet alone faster then Mizukage's clone

Gaara wins this

--Shukaku gaara certainly has the reserves to use his sand to a larger extent, and can use his sand burials and sand tsunamis to suck in tobiramas kunai and destroy any of the marked locations

--Gaara sand also has the AOE to bypass tobiramas limits of FTG, and with a starting distance of 60m, gaara can go on flight and put tobirama constantly on the defensive, and wiith tobirama lacking the firepower to breach his defenses, gaara is definitely winning this

Meh, I suppose I can see your points on speed being true. But, I still see Gaara being the victor with the ability to literally control the entire environment rather quickly on in the battle.

I feel that Gaara environment advantage is an exaggerated reason of beating most characters. And fighting the Mizukage is a perfect example. Clone+Suiton cuts should be enough to bypass his defense or set up GFK. Speed and agility to keep himself from getting trapped and using Sand as platforms to reach Gaara.

His suiton's offensive capabilities aren't all that impressive; I doubt it can make it past Gaara's defensive sand, and if it were to I have my doubts on it's strength past getting through it. His GFK is not too large of a threat when Gaara can either fly away or seal away the Edo's with ease.

Nothing exactly stops him from restraining them like he did to the Edo Kage or Kimimaro and sealing 'em. Especially considering in this situation they'd be nothing but no name fodders, literally.

The bold is interesting; Can I hear more on that?

Mizukage used oily water a mixture of both which seeps through Gaara sand

As for suiton by it's self Gaara has already proven his sand isn't effected by suiton

And with a distance tht big Gaara easily takes flight and nothing tobirama has shown will get past Gaara defense especially in the air

Considering Suiton can seep through Sand in the manga, added that fact that its priorities is pressurize to cut leaves me no doubt here.

His GFK is not too large of a threat when Gaara can either fly away or seal away the Edo's with ease.

Gaara has no idea of this technique. And has no idea of its hitbox.

Nothing exactly stops him from restraining them like he did to the Edo Kage or Kimimaro and sealing 'em. Especially considering in this situation they'd be nothing but no name fodders, literally.

True. Some FTG needs to be set up or have them retreat back to him, since its his chakra. [Example / ]

The bold is interesting; Can I hear more on that?

Using Mizukage clones as visual examples [ ][ ][ ]

Goin out real quick, addressed later

True. But Mizukages was able to completely break down his defense with it. I'm not suggesting it will do the same

As for suiton by it's self Gaara has already proven his sand isn't effected by suiton

What do you mean ineffective? It still was able to seep and mix with sand. Just because it didn't break it down like with oil doesn't mean water can't seep.

Unless use his sand itself for platform. And the fact that Gaara always level himself to his opponent fighting type.

Tobirama jumps over the Tsunami. Pretty standard procedure with Chakra control that even Kid Sasuke could do.

Flying isn't going to save Gaara. Kunai can be thrown and teleported to. Sand can be doused with Water. Only doing Tobirama a favour really.

jump over a sand tsunami? Thats sig worthyLol.

Tobirama should take this. His clones coupled with his Edo's make this fight a terrible match-up for Gaara. He won't be able to defend from 360 degrees of higher scale Suidanaha's while also stopping edo's from busting through his defences with ease (which he has knowledge of). The real Tobirama should never be in any conflicting situations. He can mark a kunai and keep it with him as a precautionary escape method, and then use his clones to switch positions if need be.

Gaara wins.

Tobirama has no response to a Air-Borne Gaara. Once Gaara gets off the ground and utilizes his terrain manipulation tobirama is done. FTG isnt a factor in this fight and suiton is useless against Gaara's sand.

Shukaku isnt needed for gaara to win both senario's

Half of this post is fanfic and the other half is basically you forgetting Gaara can take flight.

Tobirama wins both scenarios. Gaara's sand is not fast enough to catch and crush him before he escapes with FTG. Nor is there much hope of it catching him in the first place. , whereas the and were both able to replicate that feat with sheer speed. Tobirama can do the same just as easily due to his better sensing feats, FTG, and simply being faster (both due to his hype of being the Fastest Ninja of his time, thus also making him faster than the Madara that dodged Gaara's sand, and his reaction feats against Juubito).

Thus he can avoid Gaara's sand quite handily in this fight, use his clones to help mark the battlefield, and close the distance between them thanks to marked kunai and natural speed. Afterwards it would just take repeated kunai tosses or one clone being outside of its AOE to dodge large scale attacks like Sand Tsunami. On the other hand, Tobirama just needs to get himself or one clone relatively close to Gaara, then he can swap him or the clone out with an Edo and blow Gaara up with GKF. Tobirama can also pose a problem with piercing Suiton attacks from both himself and his clones.

This literally boils down to speed, and if his sand wasn't fast enough for Lee it sure as hell isn't fast enough for FTG.
