The Sharingan Kakashi had was going blind in the war, he needed Gaara to take him very close to Madara to Kamui part of his orb shield off so Gai can attack Madara. So Kakashi is going to lose Susanoo and one of his Kamui soon, we don't know about Obito's Sharingan yet and Kakashi isn't familiar in using it so who knows. He is a good Hokage candidate but Kakashi never really wanted to be Hokage and now he would want to be it for Obito but that's not as strong of a goal for why Naruto wanted to be Hokage. Even after being acknowledged by the village, he still dreams of becoming Hokage to protect the village, fix things within the village (hyuuga branches), and ensure there's peace. Naruto has Shikamaru, Sakura, Sai, and Kakashi who would help him or said they would help him.

I just think the one who actually wants to become Hokage, worked really hard to achieve that goal, and is from the current generation should be Hokage. The manga talks about letting Naruto's generation take over yet giving the last generation a role they didn't want to have. There was a lot of build up for Naruto becoming Hokage like Shikamaru saying he will be Naruto's advisor as Tobirama was Hashirama's, Kakashi telling Obito he would be there to back Naruto up so he won't fail, Gaara saying Naruto is who they all want to be like, A acknowledging Naruto as a Hokage, Tobirama saying Naruto would be better than Hashirama as Hokage, ect...

Well this is assuming the war is over. Assuming he lives. And I disagree about him being weaker without sharingan, he can make up for it with his massive array of jutsu. I mean don't get me wrong, any character without a sharingan would see an upgrade but downside is how draining it will be on ur chakra. Kakashi is strong enough without his sharingan. And he would save a whole lot of chakra. He has pretty big chakra reserves if he can use MS a lot and still not have given out form exhaustion. Gai only beats kakashi if he uses the gates. But it is only used at very important moments, Gai would never use forbidden techs on kakashi so that dosent count.

Shikamaru dosent have the life experience or the wisdom that kakashi has, Naruto has even stated himself that kakashi is smarter than shika, and Naruto has been with them both in battle, so he should know. All shikamaru is is a great strategist, but he lacks all the qualities needed to be hokage, just like his dad, he would be a great advisor.

@Bold: That could happen to anyone depending on how powerful the enemy is and the state of the village, not really fair to single out kakashi like that. And if someone invaded the viallge, everyone would fight. And if they cant handle it, then gai wouldn't make a difference either.

What I'm saying is that if those jutsu's were so powerful, why didn't he pack up the sharingan during most every fight we've seen him in and just use them? I think it's because he isn't that strong without the sharingan. Also, maybe those jutsu's weren't strong enough to be a challenge to any of his enemies. Sure he is Jonin level without the sharingan, without a doubt, but there is a great chance he wouldn't be as strong.

Gai not being willing to use gates on Kakashi doesn't negate the fact that Gai>Kakashi.

To me the most important thing for being a Kage is fighting strength. If I had to choose the Hokage, I would choose the strongest person so that they would stay in the village to protect it. That is why I would put Naruto as hokage and Shikamaru as his advisor and Kakashi as advisor to Gai.

Gai is a power house and if he opens the 8th gate, it is more of a guarantee that he will defeat the enemy than Kakashi. He is already stronger than Kakashi in 7th gate.

That doesn't prove nothing neji died earlier in the war but he still better then then Kiba, tenten ,hinato etc

He only died because He was protecting Naruto and Hinata. Kakashi would have died doing the same except Obito saved him. Otherwise Neji would have still been alive.

For the Shikamaru part, it doesn't matter if he doesn't have the life experience that Kakashi has since we see Hiruzen and Gaara both become Kage's at young ages (under 20) while Kakashi is currently 33-34. Also Naruto said that at the start of Shippuden, he doesn't know how much Shikamaru improved and Kakashi praised Shikamaru's smart and Shikamaru lead the whole alliance after his dad died which is something Kakashi couldn't do. Temari praised Shikamaru to the extent of saying he would make a good Hokage. Shikamaru is more qualified than Gaara when he became Hokage intellect wise and Hiruzen looks to be younger when he became Hokage.

The Hokage seat should go to someone in the current generation since the manga have been saying the current generation should take over. Kakashi should just be an advisor to Naruto as Shikamaru said he would be one of Naruto's advisors. I could see Kakashi becoming Hokage if it's only for a few years while he makes Naruto an advisor and teach him what he needs to learn but Kakashi doesn't have the passion to be Hokage, he never wanted to be Hokage.

1. Reason he didn't do it was honestly for the sake of plot, I hate to bring out the plot card, but its true. The only other time is when it would have shown him go on a rampage with his jutsu, it was skipped over by kishi. Honestly, plot takes this one. It was far easier for kishi to make kakashi do things with sharingan rather than draw him doing different moves everytime with different strategies, even though other characters have implied seen him in action before.

2. Gai dosent> Kakashi. Its always been implied that they were even by kishi through the story and characters themselves.

3. That's your opinion, fine.

4. What of the enemy is someone who can turn invisible? Gai cant just go making giant holes in the village. And he cant hit what he cant see. He is no sensor. Wht if the enemy is a genjutsu specialist? Gai cant counter a powerful genjutsu. And then the gate is very risky, he goes 8 gates, dude turns invisible, or turns out to be a shadowclone, gai is screwed. Just because kakashi doent have large area destruction jutsu, he has smaller scale jutsu that have better precision and have a overall better use, kakashi may be able to defeat the guy that Gai couldn't because he can use earth style techs, or lightning, or maybe because he tricks the enmy with shadowclones. Whereas Gai only has himself.

Qualifications of someone to be hokage are apparently different from someone to become kazekage. So Gaara becoming kazekage is a whole difffernt scenario than hokage. For hokage, you need the will of fire and a lot of other things, Gaara became kazekage for a whole different reason. A big one was also because they were in desperate need of a new kazekage and honestly, he was the ONLY one who would be able to fill that spot.
My point is, Kakashi woud be great Hokage. Regardless. Not saying he is going to be the next one.

Exactly showing why surviving two ninja war doesn't automatically shows a persons skill worth , Danzo survived two as well and he had to sneak his way into becoming hokage. Jiariya survived 2 as well but they asked Minato to become the 4th Hokage.

the truth is, if Kakashi does become hokage, Kishi will pull all of these op jutsus and give some type excuse and I will just have to accept it as plot.

50-49 in favor of Gai, but that doesn't count i guess. IMO Gai>Kakashi

fine

Asakujaku covers a wide area, so Gai may possibly be able to handle invisibility. How do we know that Kakashi wouldn't be just as susceptible to this genjutsu? we've seen both break genjutsu, and when Gai is in gate or goes into gates isn't his chakra always surging? Also maybe it's just plot that Gai hasn't displayed these feats? clones get taken out by Morning peacock and Gai can still fight afterwards. What if the enemy is someone Kakashi can't defeat despite him being able to sense? Deva path was straight up in his face, so was the zombie duo.

Not really, the other nations copied Konoha's village system which includes having a Kage leader. Gaara said he had to work hard to earn everyone in his village forgiveness for when he would lose control and kill people and he built bonds with the villagers as he told Kankouro he wanted to do. To be Hokage you need to be acknowledged by everyone and we know the council nominate who they deem worthy to be Hokage and they vote then after that the Jounins vote. Will of fire isn't a requirement since Danzo didn't have it and he became Hokage and no on objected that he didn't have the will of fire.

Gaara was not the only one, when Gaara was taken they wanted Kankoruo to be Kazekage and he turned it down saying they will save Gaara. Gaara wanted to be the Kazekage and worked hard to be acknowledged by everyone. They could have asked either one of Gaara's brother or sister to be the Kage but they choose Gaara and Temari is really smart, Asuma said she thought like Shikamaru when they fought in the Chunin exams. I know Kakashi would be a good Hokage but he doesn't really have a desire to, not because he wants to at least. There are better candidates who want to be Hokage is all I'm saying, we even have villagers saying Naruto should be Hokage as you can see in the flashback .
