Actually Madara stated that Naruto was using the SO6P Senjutsu. Hashirama also was using Senjutsu, so It's not far-fetched to say that he could also sense Madara's Limbo and give a suitable counter.

Edo Hashirama beat Edo Madara who had the Rinnegan+wood jutsus and had him immobilized and ready for him to be sealed. Madara had to be revived to get his full power while Edo Hashirama was low on chakra and immobilized. Madara is no match for Madara, Hashirama could have killed him many times in their war but he couldn't bring himself to kill his old friend. Even when he was fighting Madara+Kurama, he was fighting him evenly in his base and only when he got serious he went SM and immediately took down Kurama and took down PS.

Hashirama also had Bijuus 2-8 when he fought Madara+Kurama yet he didn't even have to use 1 Bijuus.

They do run out of chakra, they have unlimited chakra because they are dead and dead bodies can't produce more chakra since chakra is made from physical energy (body) and spiritual energy (mind) which comes from a living body so they only have "unlimited chakra" because their dead body can make more chakra as a zombie.

Minato was low/out of chakra after it was absorbed by the God tree and he didn't do anything for a while so his chakra could replenish in that time, Tobirama even used Minato as a medium to FTG ninjas with the chakra cloak to safety at that time. Hashirama was low on chakra and the chakra rods were pinned in his chakra points to prevent him from replenishing his chakra so he gave Sasuke the chakra he had left. Tobirama even mentions that even if they dispel their clones that they wouldn't make up the power gap between them and Juubito and we know shadow clone evenly split your chakra amongst the clones so if they had unlimited chakra then why would Tobirama worry about their chakra?

Easy, for the sheer fact that EMS Madara+full Kurama was beaten by Hashirama. Hashirama DNA gave Madara more stamina and Rinnegan (he didn't have the healing as edo since Edo just recover) so it only put Madara closer to Hashirama power but he ultimately lost since Hashirama had him pin even if it was a close match.

They are equal as in they're on the same level but Hashirama is stronger. Madara's chakra was out and his Sharingan going out shows that. Hashirama was fighting Madara and Kurama in base for the majority of the fight and handling them well. So how is EMS Madara equal to Hashirama when he's using the strongest Bijuu while Hashirama who have Bijuu 2-8 used none. Hashirama is stronger.
