can it? I mean, Hashi never absorbed madara's, so maybe it can't be.

If you can absorb things made of chakra, then yes.

Susano'o is chakra?
I thought it was ethereal beast that costs chakra to keep up.

Probably, but it takes very strong jutsus to do it, like Omnyouton or even the God Tree.
Inferior stuff like Kisame's giant shark or the Aburame's bugs wouldn't stand a chance.

no it can't be absorbed, at least not as quickly that it cannot be used in battle.... hashirama has chakra absorbing wood dragon and never absorbed madara's susano... nagato had preta activated and still got his hands cut by a susano...
so no... manga provided evidence, you just need to see...

I used to think Susanoo could be absorbed, but recently I have been thinking that it may not be possible. Based on this:

A: Hashi's wood dragon supresses the kyuubis chakra, but Susanoo protected the kyuubi from that. But susanoo is just pure chakra, so why couldn't the mokuton absorb it? Unless it can't be absorbed...
B: in the viz, Madara said that his Susanoo "prevented him from absorbing the jinton properly". That made no sense to me at first, but it could tie in to Susanoo not being able to be absorbed.
C: Kaguya used brute force to destroy Sasuke's susanoo, and never once even attempted to absorb it-even in 687 when she got close to sasuke's susanoo.(even though for someone of her power, she could probably absorb that volume of chakra easily and quickly)

And when sasuke's legged susnoo destroyed the shinju roots, shouldn't it have lost some chakra?

Hashirama said he couldn't once he noticed Madara using his PS as armor parts for Kurama. And this was after he already had his Wood Dragon variant in play. Susano'o is a construct, and thus cannot be absorbed.

That's what I don't understand. How can a wood dragon absorb kurama avatar but not a chakra humanoid?

Even in the Edo fight, Hashi didn't absorb madara's Susanoo.

constructs take on the properties of a solid object, that's why. It's like the objects made by power rings in the Green Lantern universe. While the construct in question is made using an energy source, they are shaped to essentially be and act like a solid object, so it is no longer pure energy anymore.
