That was an epic scene though, it probably proves something when he was fighting the Gokage he used his EMS to put Raikage into a genjutsu. So he can switch to EMS, it even shows it in the games.

Lol this is so funny i just noticed this also when watching and just took a pic myself to make a thread lol. When they first brought Madara back with EDO T. it showed a few glimpses of him with his rinnegan activated before he officially did later when absorbing Naruto's Rasen-shuriken

well it was confirmed that he is able to switch when he fought against aye. He switched from Rinnegan to EMS in order to cast genjutsu on him.
