So I just saw a thread about gai having wights or not , but then I thought about lee ..........

As you can see lee was able to save gai before the black ball touches them.

So we all know lee wears wights , does this mean that lee is even faster than 6th gates gai

It's not meant to be seen as something to weaken Lee. All the weights do is increase the strength of his kicks while inhibiting his speed, so he's basically trading speed for more strength.

Actually, that is not exactly what the point of Lee's weights are.

When we lift weights we are using them to increase our strength (i.e. our punches and kicks), but when we are wearing them, we in turn use them to increase our speed. Lee did not use them to primarily increase his kicking strength (although that was a secondary effect to wearing them), but to increase his speed to a level near Minato's FTG.

But like you said, those weights aren't meant to weaken him, but to enhance him.

OT: I chalk this up to inconsistency. I doubt Kishi even remembered how fast he made Lee in Part I anymore.

What he means is that the weights while worn increase attack power because there is literally more weight behind them but they weigh him down so he's slower.

@Ravufuru

I understood what he meant. I even stated that the weights increase his kicking strength, but as a secondary effect. The primary role of weights being worn is to ultimately increase the speed of the individual. Kick boxers and regular boxers use weights as well in their training, but the overall goal is to increase kicking speed, but they also increase their strength in their kicks and punches because of the weights added bonus.

What I meant is that Lee uses them for training speed, not strength.

Lee only took those weights off once. Never did it again. And no gai is faster the lee.

I just can't wait to see 8th Gate Gai animated. I hope I live long enough to see that happen

I don't really see the hype in the 8th Gate anymore. Sure, it was pretty awesome to see Gai finally use it after it being introduced as this crazy technique in Part I, but frankly, Kishi ruined the whole aspect of it. By keeping Gai alive after all of this it made the whole technique in my opinion, worthless. Why hype a technique like this and tell us about the cost of using it, if you're going to go against all that and just have him survive because of plot?

Anyways, I'd like to see it animated as well, but I am not that crazy about the technique overall.

This sounds legit

But if he removes them his speed increases alot

I don't see why people think that weights are used for increasing strength, they increase speed.

I have used weighted training clothes and belts like Lee has and the main focus to using that is to increase speed, and in some instances, jumping if they're warn on the bottom portion of the bottom. However, the added bonus to wearing those is an increase in strength, but no by much. The only way you'd see a large increase in your strength (kicking or punching) is if you continuously increased the amount of weight that you're wearing. Even then though, there is a maximum limit to how much you can wear that your bodies muscles and bones don't suffer too much problems in the future.

Now, the only reason that the increase in strength is probably seen so much in Lee is that the amount of weights that he is using in the Naruto Universe is unreal. As we saw in Part I he had weights that practically destroyed the floor below him when they dropped, but that's pretty difficult to achieve in real life. So technically, Lee's strength while wearing those increase enormously because he was able to put over 500+ pounds on him.

Real Life = Increase in Speed
Naruto Life = Increase in Strength

We'd literally have to put as much weight as Lee did to increase our kicks as much as we would when we'd do squats.
