The reason Shisui is friends with Itachi isn't a good as one might think; Kagami became suspicious of his own clan, and ordered Shisui to befriend the eldest child of Fugaku.
Danzo doesn't dream; he knows that if he ever does, it will be filled with 'What Ifs?' and the horror he had been forced to cause. So every night, before bed, he summons a Baku to steal his nightmares.
Hiruzen winces every time he is called 'God of shinobi' by those in the Leaf. He considers them his family, and knows that there is no way he could ever live up to Hashirama's legacy.
Sakumo committed suicide, not wanting to embarrass Kakashi due to his failures as a ninja. He had realized, after meeting with Might Dai, that a father should do what is best for the child.
Might Dai went into Eight Gates, fully intent on protecting his son. The fact he would go out in a much cooler way than his rival Sakumo was just a bonus.
In reality, Indra hated the fact he was better than others. He accomplished everything so easily, that he never got any extra help from his father, or the assistance of other children. He was forced to grow up, perfect, but alone.

Sometimes, on the anniversary of that fateful day, Danzo and Hiruzen will meet under henge and drink together, sharing stories of their youth. Neither of them is a ninja on that day; just Danzo Shimura and Hiruzen Sarutobi, the two boys who would run around the Hokage Monument and throw stones at each other.
The day after Torifu died, Danzo walked into the Akimichi restaurant, fresh out of the hospital. Even with his right eye freshly bandaged and his right arm useless, he had completed the Akimichi buffet challenge; Torifu's favorite.
