Naruto will do everything he can to keep people he cares from dying. Even if he can't do it, it's possible that any other person will lend a hand, since Naruto is...ya know, motivational.

He said it himself when he became good again. Sasuke wants to honor his brother's wish. It would break Itachi if his little bro. He put too much time in to make him powerful and safe. If Sasuke dies then his work is for nothing and the sage will never have closure.
