What ever happened to substitution jutsu

A academy jutsu thats very helpful but never used lol. Like when madara stabbed sasuke easy substitution there no need to use susanoo to block the attack or wait he didnt lol anyway

When kaguya shot bones at them(sasuke and naruro) in the gravity dimension another candidate for this jutsu and theres many more.

Because if everyone used substitution to evade/dodge attacks there would be no growth and development to show for characters individual skills and fights would be boring. It still is though a great counter for things like Kamui, Amaterasu, etc even if people don't want to admit but the way I see, a God (Kaguya) fell for Sexy Jutsu, why? It was completely unpredictable and unexpected. If a God fell for an academy technique like that I'm sure many others will still fall for Substitution.

If your opponent can see you move and make the switch, it is useless. If your opponent can see chakra and realize a switch was made it won't work. If you can't move, you can't do the switch. Which is why they couldn't use it in the gravity area.

Hashi replaced wood clones in flashback. I guess that tech is more useful when fighting with a limited number of enemies oe if you have something to replace yourself with and are quick enough.

Sasuke used it in a clever way with his left eye recently to shift instantly- himself/other objects/persons. ( to attack Madara and then Kaguya and then Sakura's jacket.)
