I believe the Flying Raijin does travel through dimensions, but ONLY through them and not into them. Like a wormhole, you're traveling through a massive (or short) distance without physically needing to be anywhere in between point A and B.

They are actually related. In order to teleport an object from one place to another that object must 1st traverse a distance within another space that is greatly shorter than the one in the world the teleportation occurs.

Take Nightcrawler for expample: He doesn't just appear from one point to another. He actually traverses the space in another diemsnion where time and space differ from our world.

Pic up a science book yo before spouting rubbish. There is no manga fact that States Kamui can traverse the afterlife much less Obito using Kamui AFTER he is already dead.

Did you just compare nightcrawler to science? get ready to go to school. Teleportation is the a theory of instantaneous travel theoretically this could be possible if warp 10 speed can be achieved (Allowing one to be at any point in the universe at any given time) Dimensions are a completely different theory which have to do with multiverses. While one can teleport anywhere in the universe they wouldn't be able to access these plains of existence due to needing worm holes or rifts in the Universe.
