If you noticed, most people really love (like reeeallly love) Fairy Tail, or they hate the crap out of it. There are rarely people in between.
I was browsing through a youtube comment and I found this really good quote that sums up the reason behind the hate/love gap:
"The thing is that Fairy Tail goes all the way and stand strong with its point[friendship and the power of bonds], which gives it all the shonen goodness it has (similarly to One Piece, which isn't surprising since Fairy Tail's author looks up to Oda). It doesn't try to be dark and edgy (Bleach, for a while now) or to try go too deep into meanings (Naruto). It just stays with its roots and that's all it needs.
That's what people may like or hate about Fairy Tail. To me, that's the show's strength. Straight forward and simple."
-Chuca (or something like that)
For sure, this is the reason I love Fairy Tail. I came for the fanservice (lucy tho), but stayed for the feels (so much feels) and badassery.
tldr: Just read my post. it's not even that long/
Edit: Oh, it's my 100th post! hehe
