Just here to clear some things up in the name of my boy Naruto. I'm proud how he is represented and defended by his fans (for the most part), but the haters have the most misbegotten and intrinsically incorrect reasons for spouting wrongness about him. A little Hopsin for your listening pleasure.
I'd love to write more, and at a later day I'll go into a lot more depth and analyse these concepts, but right now I'm going to see the girl who broke my heart and try to mend our trampled relationship. And just like Naruto, I'll never stop trying to better myself and make the path easier for those behind me. Because... that's my way of the ninja. I'm coming for that hate inside all of you and I'll erase it, NB. I promise.
"Lack of Hard Work" Fallacy
How this was even perpetuated is beyond me, but I'm going in.
Naruto, besides Rock Lee and Maito Gai, is the hardest in the series and that's a fact. People like to pretend having Kurama sealed inside Naruto was some kind of an upgrade, when it fact was a huge setback to Naruto. Besides Kurama being a huge detriment to Naruto's chakra control, not allowing him to reach even basic levels of shinobi-hood, and the ever looming threat of him turning into the Kyuubi at any oppurtunity, his day to day life was hard work. It is described quite well in another thread (
What's more, he TOOK Kurama's power. He trained specifically with Jiraiya to summon the Kyuubi's chakra. He fought Kurama to drain his power and take what was rightfully his, what made his life a living hell. He scrapped with the Bijuu and earned their respect and friendship. He trained his ass off for Sage Mode, nearly dying at every turn and only through his perseverance and attitude was he only able to master this technique.
Naruto's ideals and outlook on life are what make him special. THAT'S why he is able to change the hearts of his enemies and that is true strength. This is how he was able to get this far, how he was able to become the man people need him to be and that he wants to be for those he loves.
Try a little empathy. Imagine yourself in Naruto's shoes, alone in a world where a step outside is met with gazes of contempt of hatred. People want you dead and treat you like a pestilence every step you take. You finally learn there's a monster inside you and THAT'S what spawned the lows of your existence and stole your parents from you. You train your ass off to reach the point needed to combat that moster, fight it and win, then use it as your own. Then some asswipe says to you, "Nah, borrrowed power". Not only is that insulting on moral grounds, but it's ridiculous based on what actually happened. Naruto wasn't born with Bijuu Mode; he wasn't Kage level at 12 years old, was he?
What's more, Naruto's core theme and central idea is not "hard work > genius" as some believe. That belongs SOLELY to Lee/Gai. Naruto's CORE THEME is unity and cooperation and overcoming obstacles. And Naruto embodies this 100% to a T as he's bested every roadblock in his life with flying colors through his blessed demeanor and willingness to always strive for a better day, no matter what it takes.

), but I'll reiterate it here. As we know, Naruto grew up with nobody but himself and had no idea why he had no parents and why the world treated him like a disease. This kind of psychological torture is enough to break grown men, let alone small children. To have to raise yourself and suffer the way Naruto has is a feat of it's own. Jinchuriki are exceptionally strong people, not because of the Bijuu within them, but because of their mental fortitude and ability to press on in life. The life of a Jin broke Gaara, but he was put on the correct path by Naruto. Because, no matter how many of you chumps think solitude and self-reliance is the way, it's not. Kurama was a curse on Naruto that nobody BUT Naruto could overcome because of Naruto's magnetic personality and outlook on life. He triumphed over his misery and conquered the hate within him, something people in reality can't even do. What's more, he TOOK Kurama's power. He trained specifically with Jiraiya to summon the Kyuubi's chakra. He fought Kurama to drain his power and take what was rightfully his, what made his life a living hell. "Destiny/Neji was right" Fallacy
I see a lot of misconception about this debacle. Some like to pretend Naruto was ordained from the start to be something great, but all it takes is some basic literary analysis to understand what is meant by this.
For starters, Hashirama already proved being an Ashura transmigrant doesn't equate to automatically being right or having all the answers or walking a certain path. It actually proves the opposite. Hashirama, as Ashura, were not able to help their misguided rivals/friend/brothers in Madara and Indra. This is what created the Cycle of Hatred and spawned every war we know. BECAUSE Hashirama struck Madara down, BECAUSE he was able to deviate from the Ashura mantra of "cooperation no matter what", we know that being a transmigrant does not grant you the power to save them all. If being an incarnation is this case, then why did Naruto not strike down Nagato, Obito, Gaara, or Zabuza when he had the chance? Why did he not jam a blade in their necks and call it a day? Because Naruto is his own person! He's MADE these decision of his OWN ACCORD. HE decided that was the way, to allow the enemy to atone and better themselves instead of beating them into oblivion and taking their life. Like OP said in the linked thread above, anybody can kill somebody and take a life based on whatever grounds they rationalize it on... but it takes a special person to FIX that person. To allow them one last chance at becoming better.
"People in real life don't change, some people are stuck being *******s" - That's not only debated upon to this day by professionals, but more importantly, THIS IS FICTION. Naruto is SUPPOSED to be a beacon in this aspect, the savior that every single one of you needs. The person to take your hand, no matter what you've done or the trouble you caused, and make the pain go away. To heal and help everybody willing. If somebody is willing to change, then who are you to turn them away? THAT is the strength Naruto embodies, the second chance everybody wishes they had. This isn't supposed to be a manual of how to re-train hardened criminals who don't want to change, it's a fairy tale, in essence, of an ideal world.
The same applies to Neji. Neji, by CHOOSING to sacrifice himself for Hinata and Naruto, he defied destiny then and there and proved it can be nullified. That whole backstory prior to the Chuunin Exams made Neji believe he was meant to be sacrificed because there was no other option... but by ELECTING do it, he already proves it not true. Neji didn't let destiny dictate his life... he decided his path and made it reality. To protect somebody he loves, not a member of the main branch. He refused to let his life be drawn out for him and he actively changed it, which makes this destiny bullshit null and void.
On the same token, so did Naruto. At ANY point in time, Naruto could have thrown his hands up in the air and said, "**** it, I quit. Pain destroy the village, I don't care. Obito, let the world dream forever, doesn't bother me. Orochimaru, eat Sasuke for lunch, not my problem. I'm grabbing some ramen" BUT HE DIDN'T. Why? Because he CHOSE this path, he CHOSE to be the man the world needed him to be. If you believe Naruto could have sat around with his thumb in his ass and magically became this strong because "it was willed!" then I have to question not only your ability to read, but to conceptualize and understand basic human analogy.
His almost giving into Obito also shits on this destiny stuff. If it was Naruto's destiny to be the big dog no matter and win, then why was he about to give in? Why was he about to join Obito's side and help initiate the Mugen Tsukuyomi? Why was Hinata the one to smack him out of it? By this line of thinking, it was also Hinata's destiny to be the savior THAT proves destiny wrong because it makes the entire Prophecy, the Elder Sage Frog, Hagoromo, and the Bijuu WRONG. This WOULD NOT BE A POSSIBILITY if anything was preordained as some of you people assert is the case. It's not logically feasible or correct, it's blatantly not an option.
No matter how you chalk it up, this destiny stuff is complete crap and Naruto has shit on it time and time again.

"Hokage father" fallacy
This is just dumb, honestly. Some of you say that some kind of nepotism is at play because Naruto is the son of the Yondaime Hokage, which is nonsensical. If that was the case, Tsunade would've given Naruto the position as soon as mastered Sage Mode because at that point he had the power, philosophy, outlook, and skills needed to be a perfect Hokage.
We can poke holes in this logic just as the others, though. If nepotism is at play here, why isn't Asuma stronger? He's the son of a Hokage, but he's a textbook jounin level ninja. Why is Shikamaru as strong as Shukaku? Why is Gaara stronger than his old man despite not having Magnet Release? Why is Michael Jordan's kid not 1/15th as good as him at basketball? Why isn't Robert Downey Jr's son a good actor? Because being the offspring of great people does not entitle one to their accomplishments.
The Hokage position isn't like some royal line kind of bullshit. Otherwise, how did Hiruzen get the gig? Why did Tobirama not gift it to his closest relative? How did Minato get the gig after that, why wasn't Teenage Asuma granted the title? Naruto has been being GROOMED and TRAINED for the role since day 1! He's learned the major lessons of empathy for all, not letting your comrades fall behind, protecting the ones you love with both arms (Thanks, Inari), acknowledging all and not taking on the load alone, I could go on.
What's more, Naruto, in canon, was not granted gifts from his parents
And this includes the spot of Hokage. This has been earned by struggling through every fight he's been in and growing evermore.

In Conclusion
I know this in an uphill battle, to try and convince the disillusioned haters of their mistakes and wrongness, and I know I won't reach those ears. But I'll never stop trying because that's the right thing to do, and because it's what Naruto would do. I'm not trying to say you have to fanboy Naruto, I'm not saying you even have to like Naruto. We all have our tastes in characters, but all I'm saying is to look past your initial assessments and sheep mentality.
To give a chance where a chance is deserved, and to see that some of these lies floating around are just slanderous and drivel from haters mouths. I know every character has haters and nobody is exempt from such, but despite Naruto Uzumaki's large fanbase, it genuinely sucks to see people bag on him for such wrong reasons. I'm just a humble fan and I hope I've helped at least 1 person see the difference.
