Yes and madara is supposed to have indra's soul. I have no idea how two of the same souls can appear at the same time. I can only say madara and hashirama presently do not posses souls anymore? Or that madara posses the soul of the sage while hashirama is dead so can't have any soul. I don't know man Lol.

Take into account I said I don't have an extensive knowledge of reincarnation, especially of Buddhist belief, so I'm not qualified to write a "Reincarnation 101". You may have to look into the principles of reincarnation to get an answer. Also take into account that Kishimoto's own religious beliefs may have intertwined into the story(I know many Buddhists, some have differing religious beliefs on reincarnation)
