Location: Saurai Bridge
Distance: 20 meters
No Restrictions
Both at 100 percent
Intent to kill
Both have as much knowledge as they had when they met up at that hotel where Itachi beat up Sasuke and Jiraiya saved him

Who wins and why?

Itachi will run from Jiraiya as he did in canon. I guess that means Jiraiya wins......?

Base Jiraiya has no legitimate counter to Amaterasu as I see it.
If he starts in SM, then he wrecks.

Itachi wins with Tsukuyomi,Amaterasu,Susanoo. Or Izanami.. Take your pick..

Itachi is not the great solo king like a lot claim, but these jutsu above is the very reason why he beats shinobi like muu, Oonoki,Jiraiya,Kakashi, one ms Obito,Minato, and Tobirama...

He has more one shot jutsu than 95% of naruto verse. With his intell, he will find a way to land one of theses jutsu.

Itachi with low difficulty. Someone needs to settle this officially.

No ._.
Kishi sensei is the only one who can enlighten us U_U There's literally no other way.

I meant in an official debate. This match-up is commonly argued way too frequently.

I'm pretty sure this match up happened already during one of those debate tournaments. I can google it if you want.
That still wouldn't provide real evidence or make whatever the consensus a fact though, for now we're all limited to opinion. Like i claimed before, Kishi's way is the only way U_U

So until Kishimoto states that Hagoromo is stronger than Konohamaru, it's not a fact that he is? Official debates with real debaters would help clear the air as to who would win in a fight in the Versus Colosseum, which is what I want.

Bad example. If the gap between Itachi and Jiraiya was the size of a car, then the gap between Hagoromo and Konohamaru would be (at least) the size of the hearth.
In no way is an hypothetical victory based on situational events, canon or factual (unless the gap is clearly noticeable and the outcome obvious, which is not the case).
What's a 'real debater'? Lol
You seem sure that Itachi wins, why not just stick with your opinion? ._.

There is a huge gap between them. I consider them to be on a different tier altogether. The VC is hypothetical, yes, but it helps us to determine who stands the bigger chance between two characters by elaborating on each character's weaknesses and strengths as well as the abilities that can counteract the opposition. And yes, the outcome is pretty obvious; if you can't see that, take it up with a much-needed psychologist. If you're going to have the outlook on this section, then you, simply put, shouldn't be here in the first place. A real debater is someone whom utilizes logic and factual evidence, someone who possesses credibility; I'm sure you could learn a lot from people like that Lol

This has gone completely out of topic. Oh well.

There's nothing obvious about a kage level fight unless its canon and happened before or its stated how it would end.
If you want to bring logic here you can't just claim a character like Jiraiya (considered legendary, S-level, Hokage material, etc...) is getting low-diffed by a guy who can't fight without coffing blood everytime he uses his strongest jutsus and straight out admitted inferiority (regardeless of the situation, he needed credibility to claim something like that, which means the gap can't be "huge" at all).
The manga doesn't run purely on feats, not even close. Portrayal and hype count as well and are even more important.

A real debater is also someone who uses situational feats and doesn't know how a character would react or if it would pull off new jutsus in a given situation. Plot (Kishi) is what truly determines the outcome of a fight, not feats.
There's no learning who would win from them, only speculate and/or mold our opinions through discussion to reach what can be considered a likely scenario, because none of us is Kishi to use our opinions as facts and claim them as the truth.

By this marvelous logic, Prime Hiruzen solos all the Kage. Itachi admitted inferiority to Jiraiya? Enough with the fanfiction [ ]. He never did what you claim, and he doesn't cough up blood after using Amaterasu [ ]. Itachi was S-class at the age of 13 and widely renowned. Your point?

Yes, but I was referring to actual debates in the VC, not as an actual canon fact in the manga. There are things that are widely accepted even though it's not "Kishimoto confirmed," and this should be one of them.
