It is better that it went this way, kamui was to strong, actually obito has severel chances to rip kaguya apart with it, kishi must ended it, so sasuke and naruto will be the heroes.

Kakashi will show his relevance in an other way, thats the reason kishi didn't kill him off together with obito.

the perfect moment for that was last chapter, but it didn't happen and kishi, through obitos words, made clear that kakashi won't die in this war, should kakashi die in the next chapters the point of obitos death and the actual chapter would be more unnecessary than hell.
