The Ninja God lacking chakra?

In ch. 686, he says that he currently lacks the chakra to do this mighty sealing jutsu we've heard him mention because he gave his power to Sasuke and Naruto.

I would think that someone as powerful as him, even as a ghost, would have limitless chakra (I'd think he got a big power boost when he sealed the Juubi away. That is, after he sealed it away, some of that chakra remained even after creating the Bijuu).

By this, it's almost like saying that he is lacking chakra vs. the 4 Edo Hokage that have nearly limitless chakra, as Edo clones are said to have.

Had the same curious thought. I would find it hilarious and also pretty good plot if he just said this to make a reason for Hashirama and Madara to be friends again.

His entire purpose seems to be to fix Ashura and Indra's relationship, at least from what he said to Naruto/Sasuke.

If you remember everyone's comment on Kaguya's chakra and think back to what Black zetsu said in the last chapter about her using up a lot of chakra it's very concievable that if she can run out of chakra then Hagoromo can to especially if he gave his away.

That's the thing. How can these 2 run out of chakra? Don't they have juubi chakra levels? That used to mean something....

It seems that chakra has become extremely relative. You might have an imeasurable ammount of it, somehow, you can run out of it within a few minutes of battle.

In terms of giving chakra away, think about the technique Tsunade and Sakura uses or Kurama and Naruto. Once the use up their chakra or give it away then they have to take time to build that chakra back up. As for Kaguya the techniques that she use, especially the different dimensions, requires a tremendous amount of chakra. Considering that both her and Hagoromo have a tremendous amount of chakra it would take more time for them to gather chakra than someone like Kakashi with low chakra reserves.

Sage has never been hyped to have near or limitless chakra, the only thing that was hyped to have near limitless chakra was the Juubi (but I think this was only said in one of the ultimate ninja storm games).

Anyways Kaguya is stated to have a chakra limit so Hagoromo should be no exception.
